During this free program they will share a few of their favorite stories about their investigations of Michigan&#8217;s most haunted locations, including the details of their trip to the site of the Bath School Disaster. Registration is appreciated and is now open. Some details of the author&#8217;s stories, especially those surrounding the Bath School, may not be suitable for young children.<br \/>\n<strong>LEGO Block Party<\/strong><br \/>\nThere are two options available: Children in grades 1-5 can build with traditional LEGOs on Saturday, October 25 from 10-11 OR children ages 4-6 can build with Duplo blocks at the library on Monday, October 27 from 6:30-7:30pm. The Saturday session will meet at the train depot across from the library. These programs are for independent participants, and registration for both programs is required and opens Friday, October 3.<br \/>\n<strong>Chapter Chatter &#8211; Workin&#8217; Like a Dog! <\/strong><br \/>\nJoin us in learning to appreciate what our &#8220;best friends&#8221; can do to help us. Children ages 6-8 who are independent listeners will be able to learn about dogs that assist those in need. This program takes place on Monday evenings, 7-7:45, November 3rd thru November 24th. Library staff selects and reads a chapter book to the children over the course of these 4 Mondays plus they will get to meet and learn about different service dogs. Registration is required and begins on Monday, October 6th. Loads of doggone fun!<br \/>\n<strong>Briggsflix<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Briggsflix Movie Club is offering a Halloween Film Fest every Wednesday evening in October! The event will kick off with &#8220;Ghostbusters&#8221; (rated PG) on October 1 and &#8220;Shaun of the Dead&#8221; (rated R) on October 8. All shows are FREE and will begin at 6:30. Patrons are welcome to bring camp chairs or other comfortable seating.<br \/>\n<strong>Bookaholics<\/strong><br \/>\nThe October selection of the Bookaholics Book Club is now available. In &#8220;Sharp Objects&#8221; by Gillian Flynn, reporter Camille Preaker returns to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years Camille has avoided speaking to her mother and half sister, but now, back in her old bedroom, she becomes dogged by her own demons as she unravels the puzzle of her past. The clubs will meet Thursday, October 16 at noon at the library or at 7:30 pm at Bruno&#8217;s Bar.<br \/>\n<strong>Staff Picks<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you are looking for a good book to read here is a list of titles that Library staff enjoyed or found informative in the last month.<br \/>\nFiction: <em>Bone Orchard<\/em> by P. Nichols.<br \/>\nMiss Marie&#8217;s Juvenile Picks: <em>Map Trap<\/em> by A. Clements (Juvenile fiction) and <em>It&#8217;s Okay to Make Mistakes<\/em> by T. Parr (picture book).<br \/>\n<strong>Junior Readers Book Club<\/strong><br \/>\nJoin the Junior Readers Book Club for a PILLOW FIGHT on Monday, October 20th at 7:00 pm. We will be discussing <em>Nightmare on Joe&#8217;s Street<\/em> by Jon Scieszka as well playing a game, a making a craft and having a snack. The book club is designed for youth ages 7-9. Books will be available at the Circulation Desk when registering.<br \/>\n<strong>Toddler Storytime: &#8220;By the Light of the Moon&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nThere are spaces available for the Thursday morning sessions 10-10:30, October 16th thru November 20th. You and your child can cozy up with stories about animals, the moon and twinkling stars. These sessions are for children ages 2 to 3 years old with an adult. This program also includes music, games, creative movement and take-home crafts. Registration is currently taking place.
