\nIn the upcoming election for Clinton County District Court, I wholeheartedly endorse Michael Clarizio as a very highly qualified candidate for district judge. I have known Mike personally and professionally for over twenty years, and have found him to excel in those qualities which make for an excellent judge: competence, integrity, fairness and experience.
\nI join with retiring District Judge Richard Wells in his endorsement of Mike Clarizio to succeed him.

In the exciting campaign for District Court Judge, one candidate stands out in experience and a proven record of success – Mike Clarizio. As an Assistant Prosecutor, he’s handled over 8,000 criminal and\/or civil cases. This gives him the breadth of experience we need. Mike has been a voice for justice and an advocate for victim’s rights.
\nFurthermore it was no surprise to me that Michael Clarizio also met the endorsement criteria of Right to Life of Michigan. I’ve known Mike for over 30 years to be a fighter in the battle of maintaining and advancing the dignity of human life. He is pro-life. I’m really glad that I had the chance to attend the League of Women Voters debate last week.
\nGoing into the debate, I knew that I was voting for Michael Clarizio for 65A District Court Judge, but it was because I knew him to be a man of character that I could trust. After the debate, I knew that without a doubt, he was also getting my vote because he was quite simply the best person for the job.
\nThe good man I knew showed through, but so did the highly skilled lawyer with years of experience and the support of his community. If the rest of Clinton County had had the chance to see what I did that night, I can’t imagine there would be any doubt in their minds.

I give my full support to Shannon Schlegel as she is running for 65A District Court Judge in Clinton County in the upcoming election. I have known Shannon, her husband Mark, and their daughter for many years. She is a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and will make a fantastic Judge.
\nShe has owned her private-practice law firm in DeWitt for nearly thirteen years. She has experience in every area that is handled in District Court. She always makes sure she serves her clients with the highest level of integrity. In the years she has been an attorney, she has worked hard and has gained quality experience that qualifies her to be your next District Judge.
\nShannon firmly believes that no matter how big or small a case may seem, it matters to her! She is Special Prosecuting Attorney for the Department of Human Services for Gratiot County and Clinton County, and has practiced as a Defense Attorney. It is my honor to endorse Shannon Schlegel for 65A District Court Judge.
\nAs a pastor for the last five years in St. Johns, I\u2019ve had the opportunity to observe court. As a result, my questions for Shannon were, \u201cWhat kind of a judge will you be? Just? Kind? Inspiring hope? I can confidently say Shannon exhibits all three.
\nShannon will be a just judge because she believes in the rule of law. There are laws that must be enforced and, when broken, consequences will result.
\nShe will be a kind judge. This is also because of her belief in an even higher rule of law, that is, all laws of human government must conform to \u201cuniversal principles of fairness, morality, and justice that transcend human legal systems.\u201d Shannon\u2019s commitment to God will help her live out the principle that the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 2:4 (ESV) \u201c . . . God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance.\u201d
\nFinally, Shannon will be a judge that inspires hope. Individuals standing in court must be given hope that they can change and become law-abiding citizens. The attitude of the judge can set the tone for this hope!

Recently, I attended a candidate forum in Dewitt hosted by the League of Women Voters. I was especially interested in the candidates for 65A District Judge. The forum provided a great platform for both candidates to educate the community on their legal experience and their list of endorsements and supporters.
\nWhen I think of the quality most important in a judge, I think of fairness. As a business owner and resident of Clinton County, I feel it\u2019s crucial that we have a judge that has experience in all areas of law, has support of a variety of sectors within our community and will maintain the highest level of integrity throughout their term.
\nThat is why I\u2019ve decided to support Shannon Schlegel for 65A District Judge. She\u2019s not only an experienced, diverse attorney, but she\u2019s a hard-working business owner and an active member of our community.
