Participating this year, were schools from DeWitt, Fowler, and Pewamo\/Westphalia. Each school created posters promoting their schools’ fine-arts programs.
\nThe first through third place awards were based on their artistic content and were judged by a local artist for their design and clarity of message.
\nThe posters were then displayed at several County festivals this summer. The public was invited to vote for their favorite poster at the festivals as well as online.
\nThe 2014 Art Challenge resulted in the Arts Council awarding $1,350 to the schools’ art programs. Awards were presented on October 9th at the St. Johns Depot. Funding for the Art Challenge was made possible from support from local businesses, organizations and Arts Council members.
\nThe Clinton County Arts Council, based in St. Johns, has supported the arts in mid-Michigan since 1981. The Council maintains an art gallery; a railroad museum, complete with actual antique railroad cars; a theater production company; Concerts in the Park during the summer and a community chorale group. The Council receives a portion of its funding from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Clinton County Middle Schools’ 2014 Art Challenge<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-43093","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/43093","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=43093"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/43093\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=43093"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=43093"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=43093"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
