Trick or Treating and more
\nSpooks, goblins, princesses and ghosts are welcome to fly into the Library on Halloween, Friday Oct. 31st from 3:00-5:00 pm where they will receive a free treat.
\nBookaholics<\/strong>
\nThe Bookaholics book club will be reading “The Beekeeper’s Apprentice” by Laurie R. King in November. The story follows a long-retired Sherlock Holmes as he quietly pursues his study of honeybees, never imagining he would encounter anyone whose intellect matches his own; much less that it would be an audacious teenage girl with a penchant for detection. Miss Mary Russell becomes Holmes’ pupil and quickly hones her talent for deduction, disguises and danger. But when an elusive villain enters the picture, their partnership is put to a real test. The club will meet Thursday, November 20 at 12:00 pm at the library or at Bruno’s Bar at 7:30 pm. Copies of the book are now available at the library circulation desk.

\nCaroling Kids<\/strong>
\nAll kids ages 4-10 are invited join our Caroling Kids at Briggs to sing at our Holiday Program as we greet Santa Claus! Practices will be Tuesdays in November (4, 18 & 25) from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. and we will perform when Santa visits the Library on Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m. Registration is from October 14 – November 4.

\nChapter Chatter-Workin’ Like a Dog! <\/strong>
\nJoin us in learning to appreciate what our “best friends” can do to help us. Children ages 6-8 who are independent listeners will be able to learn about dogs that assist those in need. This program takes place on Monday evenings, 7-7:45, November 3rd thru November 24th. Library staff selects and reads a chapter book to the children over the course of these 4 Mondays plus they will get to meet and learn about different service dogs. Registration is required. Loads of doggone fun!
\nLooking Ahead to the Holidays<\/strong>
\nEverybody’s busy\u2026.just a reminder to mark your December calendar so you won’t miss our Holiday Programs at the Library. The programs are for all ages and are on (Thursday, December 4th, 6-8pm), (Friday, December 5th, 6-8pm) and (Saturday, December 6th, 10-11:30 am). There will be holiday stories, games, crafts, and refreshments. Of course a personal visit with Santa is a highlight for the children. Make sure to bring your camera! No registration is required for these free programs. Join us at the library to celebrate the season in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

\nBriggsflix<\/strong>
\nThe final film in the Briggsflix Movie Club’s Halloween Film Fest will be shown on Wednesday, October 29 when we scream the horror classic “The Exorcist.” The film is rated R, and is intended for an adult audience. This FREE showing will begin at 6:30 with a short discussion following. Patrons are welcome to bring camp chairs or other comfortable seating.
\nLibrary Closures<\/strong>
\nThe Library will be closed on Tuesday Nov. 11th in observance of the Veteran’s Day Holiday. The Library will close at 5:00pm on Wednesday Nov. 26th and be closed Nov. 27th, 28th and 29th for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout these closures.<\/p>\n
