Baker, Richard Eugene Bradley<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Violet M. Baker<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/baker_violet.jpg\" alt=\"baker_violet\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-43186\" \/>Violet M. Baker, age 92, passed away on October 21, 2014. She was born in Ovid on March 22, 1922 the daughter of Edward L. and Anna M. (Eiserman) Anderson. She was a homemaker, formerly owned\/operated Baker\u2019s Lazy B Resort in Crystal, MI, and Dol Jac Enterprises, Inc. in Ovid with her husband, Leonard \u201cJack\u201d Baker, whom she married on October 13, 1937. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1999.<br \/>\nShe is survived by her son, Dolan (Kaye) Baker of Ovid, daughter Karon Kay (Jess) Wallace of Schoolcraft, MI, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. In addition to her husband, Violet was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sandra Lambert, and four sisters, Alice Anderson, Opal Terryberry, Doris Hyde, and Helen Reichert.<br \/>\nGraveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid with Pastor Paul Damkoehler officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid, MI 48866. Memorial donations will be made to Hospice Advantage, 801 S. Waverly Road, Suite 304, Lansing, MI 48917 or the charity of one\u2019s choice.<br \/>\nThe family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneralhomes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Richard Eugene Bradley<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/bradley_richard.jpg\" alt=\"bradley_richard\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-43184\" \/>Richard Eugene Bradley \u201cDick\u201d, age 81, was called home unexpectedly to his Lord on October 15, 2014. Dick was born June 1, 1933 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Charles and Margaret Bradley. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, and his education included Western Michigan and Michigan State University where he obtained teaching degrees.<br \/>\nHe taught English and Business classes at St. Johns Michigan, Lansing Everett High School and retired from Lansing Waverly, where he oversaw the creation of the year book and the school paper. He taught tennis in the summers and worked with the basketball and football teams keeping the statistics. Organizations included, Past President of Michigan Outdoor Writers, Jaycees, The Lansing Skalldic Society and Bass unlimited. Dick also served in the Army from 1955-1957, where he was involved in \u201cExercise Sagebrush\u201d. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a published author with writings appearing in the Community News, Michigan Outdoors Magazine and many others.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shirley; son, James and Renae Bradley; daughter, Kay Kniahynycky; step-children, Doug and Bonnie Little, Bob and Lucy Little, Julie and Dan Chapko, and Scott Little; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of them all.<br \/>\nVisitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tiffany Funeral Home<\/a>, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 18, at the First United Methodist Church, 3827 Delta River Dr., Lansing with Pastor Lori Sykes officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday at church. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.<br \/>\nThe family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of McLaren Hospital for their compassionate care of us during our time in the E.R. Also the doctors at the T.L.C. for years of working to save Dick\u2019s eyesight. You are all special to us.
