{"id":43334,"date":"2014-10-30T20:53:19","date_gmt":"2014-10-31T00:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/?p=43334"},"modified":"2014-10-30T20:53:19","modified_gmt":"2014-10-31T00:53:19","slug":"scouts-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/archive1\/scouts-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Girl Scouts host fall recruitment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday, November 6<!--more--><br \/>\nGirl Scouts Heart of Michigan will host a fall recruitment event on Thursday, November 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the St. Joseph School Cafeteria\/Social Hall. This is for Saint Johns\u2019 area girls and adults interested in joining Girl Scouts.<br \/>\nGirls in kindergarten through high school are invited to attend the event with their parents or guardians to learn more about Girl Scouting and to register for this year (October 1st \u2013 September 30th, 2015).<br \/>\nIn order to form troops for girls who register for Girl Scouting, the area also needs to recruit adults who are willing to serve as leaders.<br \/>\nKaci Benson, Saint Johns area manager and troop leader, said she stepped out of her comfort zone four years ago when she agreed to lead her daughter\u2019s Girl Scout troop.<br \/>\nLast year Benson put even more distance between her and her comfort zone when she became an Area Manager for the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan in St. Johns. In this volunteer role, Benson provides support and advice to the leaders of 57 girls who are members of troops in the area.<br \/>\n\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of potential and I know we could have great growth here,\u201d Benson said. \u201cWe have leaders who are committed to growing Girl Scouting in the St. Johns area.\u201d<br \/>\nHere\u2019s what your girl gains when she joins Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan:<br \/>\n<strong>Cherishing Her<\/strong>. By graduation, a dozen activities or field trips each year adds up to more than 100 diverse experiences to help guide her higher education and career choices. With years of exposure to positive female role models, she\u2019ll discover endless possibilities for her future.<br \/>\n<strong>Preparing Her<\/strong>. Your daughter needs a full range of life skills. This doesn\u2019t just happen on its own, but with an intentional focus.
