Simunek, Mable J. Mudget, Jack Crowner, Clarence Schultz<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Mary Ellen Buggs<\/strong><br \/>\nary Ellen Buggs, age 86, retired registered nurse at Clinton Memorial Hospital, died on December 31, 2014. She was born on June 3, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Alfred A. and Marguerite (Walsh) Gannon.<br \/>\nMary Ellen is survived by Karen (Bill) Pioszak, Richard Buggs, Joyce (Bob) Sherwood, Jean Buggs, Joe Buggs, Tim (Mary) Gannon, Mary Anne (James) Marshall. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Emily Pioszak, Eric (Val) Pioszak, Erika (fianc\u00e9, Randy Castillo) Sherwood, Kendall Buggs, Dylan Smith, Collin Gannon, Adam Gannon, Selby Smith and Grady Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynne Buggs.<br \/>\nA Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns with Fr. Michael Williams presiding. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 East Cass Street, St. Johns. Contributions may be made in Mary Ellen\u2019s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church.<br \/>\nThe family is being served by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneralhomes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Phyllis I. Simunek<\/strong><br \/>\nPhyllis I. Simunek died December 28, 2014 at the age of 97. She was born in Morrice, on January 21, 1917, the daughter of Elta Jay and Zoe (Bigelow) Beebe.<br \/>\nSurviving are her daughters Tama Simunek, April Kephart, Beverly (Paul) Wilkes, Madeline (Robert) Arnold, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 63 years Fred, her brothers, Bryce and Keith Beebe, sisters, Barbara Casady and Grace Alling.<br \/>\nThere will be a graveside service at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Matt Olson officiating. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one\u2019s choice. Mudget<\/strong><br \/>\nMable J. Mudget, 77, of St. Johns, died Sunday December 28, 2014. There will be no services.<br \/>\nArrangements by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Jack Crowner<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/crowner_jack.jpg\" alt=\"crowner_jack\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-44522\" \/>Jack Crowner, 81, of Louisville, passed away February 27, 2014.<br \/>\nJack was a veteran of over 60 years in Farm Broadcasting. He owned and operated the Farm Service Radio Network, serving radio stations in Kentucky, Indiana, and nearby states providing farm news and information daily over local rural radio stations that provide necessary farm and market information to their listeners.<br \/>\nJack served as Farm Director for WAVE radio and TV stations in Louisville, WMT stations in Cedar Rapids, IA, and television stations in Evansville, IN, and Lexington, KY for over 30 years. He also served as the Executive Secretary of the Kentucky Beef Cattle Association from 1977 to 1981. He also served as Senior Farm Director for WHAS-Radio and for the Kentucky News Network.<br \/>\nJack was raised on a dairy and hog farm in DeWitt, Michigan and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1955 with a degree in Broadcasting. Jack was an early participant in the International Farm Youth Exchange, living and working on farms in New Zealand during 1953 and 1954. It was during this journey that he met his future wife Sue.<br \/>\nAfter college, he received a U.S. Air Force commission and served on active duty in the Alaskan territory. His first daughter Brenda was born while they were stationed at Elmendorf AFB. Jack retired as a Lt. Colonel after 26 years in the Air Force Reserve, and had served as President of the National Guard Association of Kentucky. In 1970, Jack served as President of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB), and in 1990 was named National Farm Broadcaster of the Year. In 2004, Jack was inducted into the NAFB Hall of Fame in Kansas City. He is a four-time winner of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Communications Award and, in 2008 was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.<br \/>\nIn 1985, Jack returned to New Zealand and Australia for a current look at farming overseas, and in 1986, he was invited to travel to Russia with the first team of farm journalists to visit many of the farming regions and see Russian farming first-hand.<br \/>\nHe has also toured farming areas in Japan, Brazil and Argentina with farmers, and in 1990, he returned to Russia with another group of farmers and journalists to examine the changes in Russian agriculture after the fall of Communism.<br \/>\nJack served as announcer for the National Farm Machinery Show, Kentucky State Fair, North American International Livestock Expo and for over 30 years served as the auctioneer of the Grand Champion country ham at the Kentucky State Fair. Jack served for 20 years as a Director for Stock Yards Bank &#038; Trust Company. He also served as the Public Director of Farm Credit Services of Mid-America, including the states of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.<br \/>\nJack was a life-long sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, both in his native Michigan and in Kentucky. His travels for work and play took him to more than a dozen countries and most of the 50 states. Like his father, Jack was a Mason and a lifetime member of the Valley Masonic Lodge 511.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his wife, Sue Crowner; daughters, Brenda Crowner Burchett (Dale) and Linda Crowner Byers (Tim); son, Mark Crowner (Vicki); brother, Bob Crowner (Una); grandchildren, Christine Burchett Butler, Daniel Byers, Jacklin Byers, John Crowner, and Anne Crowner.<br \/>\nHis funeral service will be 12 p.m. Thursday at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, with interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. &#8211; 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Thursday.<br \/>\nThe family would like to acknowledge the care and compassion provided by the doctors, nurses, and staff of Jewish and Kindred Hospitals. May 31, 2014, at Golden Living Center Arab. Mr. Schultz was born on Dec. 6, 1925 in St. Johns, MI to Burt and Bethel Pratt Schultz. He was a farmer and member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the Army. After the war, he farmed in Clinton County until he moved to Alabama in 1984.<br \/>\nHe is survived by Linda Schultz; Children: Clarence Schultz, Jr., Jeremy (Sharai) Schultz, Virginia Schultz and Christina Schultz; Sisters: Ethel Pumprey, Jeanette Jacobs and Margaret Blood; Grandchildren: Wade, Timothy, Tia, Trent, Michael, Kyndal, Kaycee, Jessica, Nicholas and Jonathan; Numerous Great Grandchildren and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by Brothers: Allen, Albert and Raymond Schultz and Sister: Irene Muller.<br \/>\nFuneral Service was Wednesday June 4, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with Greg Stone and Louis Fortner officiating. Burial was in Rice Cemetery.
