Ryan<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Berma Jean Seelhoff<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/seelhoff_berma.jpg\" alt=\"seelhoff_berma\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-45675\" \/>Berma Jean Seelhoff, age 87, of Ovid, Michigan passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 2:00 P.M., with her son, Pastor Scott Seelhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Middlebury Township Cemetery, Ovid, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 &#038; 6-8 P.M. and from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.<br \/>\nBerma was born in Ovid, Michigan on April 20, 1927, the daughter of Glen and Pearl (Bailey) Lowe. On February 17, 1947 Berma married Norman Seelhoff, in Ovid, Michigan; he passed away on December 7, 2004. She owned Berma&#8217;s Beauty Shop in Ovid, Michigan; she also worked for Chrysler Corporation, in Lyons, Michigan. Berma resided most of her life in Ovid and had a cabin in Harrison, Michigan. She enjoyed crocheting, and reading. She loved dogs, especially Foxy, the Pomeranian that her husband bought her as a surprise gift. She attended SonShine Church Ovid, Michigan.<br \/>\nShe is survived by daughter Dixie and Christopher Nethaway of Ovid, MI, son Scott and Debbie Seelhoff of Ovid, MI, daughter Darla and Joseph Ladiski of Elsie, MI, 8 grandchildren; Kelley Jo and Bob Nixon, Norman Nethaway, Bobby and Shawn Seelhoff, Kimberly and Paul English, Nathan Seelhoff, Amber and Tim Ladiski, Autumn and Beau Schneider, Adam and Stephanie Nethaway, 13 great grandchildren; Austin, Heath, Heather, Holly, Desiree, Abigail, Mason, Megan, Emily, Micah, Katelyn, Evan, and Nicholas, 3 great great grandchildren; MJ, Kainen, and Mary Jane, She is also survived by her grand-dog, Savanna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving stepfather, Roy Hettinger who entered her life when she was 10 years old, husband, grandson Scotty Seelhoff, great granddaughter Victoria English, sister Myrtle Young and brother George Lowe.<br \/>\nMemorials may be made to SonShine Community Church or to the family. William \u201cBill\u201d Benedict<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/benedict_william.jpg\" alt=\"benedict_william\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-45671\" \/>Col. William \u201cBill\u201d Benedict (Ret.) of Murfreesboro, age 89, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Adam\u2019s Place Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Maple Rapids, Michigan and was the son of Gerald C. Benedict and Margaret C. Barrett Benedict.<br \/>\nA lifelong patriot, Col. Benedict retired from the United States Army after 32 years of service that included being a member of the Allied Occupation force in World War II as an enlisted man, to Lieutenant and Platoon Leader in the Korean War, and service In Viet Nam as a Lt. Col. and G2 of the 1st Infantry Division. He retired as a Colonel from his post in the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC in June of 1974. Amongst his awards and decorations are Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, multiple Bronze Stars and others.<br \/>\nCol. Benedict was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and active in the Rutherford County Retired Military Officers Association of America. He was an avid reader and fisherman who enjoyed annual trips to Alaska and the Bahamas stalking his favorite fish with an often hand-tied fly. He will be missed by family and all who knew him.<br \/>\nCol. Benedict is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Marilyn Sievert Benedict; one brother, Gerald Benedict and wife Shirley, of Idaho; sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce Benedict of Murfreesboro, Bill and Kathy Benedict of Sequim, WA; Rex and Michelle Benedict of Melbourne, FL; Mark and Sallie Benedict of Murfreesboro, Leith and Pam Benedict of Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by daughter Mary Benedict Thompson and her husband Randy of Murfreesboro. Col. Benedict also leaves eleven grandchildren: Aimee Koshlap, Heather Oines, Sarah Fuoco, Ben Benedict, Ruth Prather, Tim Benedict, Megan Benedict, Will Benedict, Jamie Salas, Thomas Maland, Eric Maland, and 4 great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews: Alan Benedict, Susan Benedict, Elizabeth Benedict, Jeff Benedict, and Rob Benedict.<br \/>\nVisitation with the family will be at 2 PM on Thursday, February 26th at <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.woodfinchapel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Woodfin Memorial Chapel<\/a> with memorial service following at 3 PM officiated by Rev. Joe Rouse. Interment will be at a private service in St. Johns, Michigan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smiletrain.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smile Train<\/a> in memory of Col. Benedict.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Carolyn A. Koenigsknecht<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/k13_carolyn.jpg\" alt=\"k13_carolyn\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-45666\" \/>Carolyn A. Koenigsknecht, of Fowler, MI died February 21, 2015 at the age of 74. Born March 10, 1940 to Joseph and Antoinette (Schneider) Trierweiler, Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid gardener, especially loved her flowers, loved playing cards, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Carolyn was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Order of Foresters. In 1962 Carolyn married John Koenigsknecht and he preceded her in death in 2002.<br \/>\nSurviving are her children; Randy (Carol) Koenigsknecht, Jeff (Kris) Koenigsknecht, Kurt (Patty) Koenigsknecht, Dana (Dale) Schafer, Neil (Wendy) Koenigsknecht; 17 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; brother; Matt (Maggie) Trierweiler; sisters, Mary Jane (Gene) Schoendorf, Kay Huston, Jean Thelen and twin sister, Marilyn (Bernard) Thelen; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, John, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Joan (Ray) Thelen and Ernestine (Warren) Dolan; brothers-in-law, Murv Huston and Bruno Thelen.<br \/>\nFuneral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. William Koenigsknecht presiding. Ionia, Fowler.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Harvey P. Darling<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/darling_havey.jpg\" alt=\"darling_havey\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-45664\" \/>Harvey P. Darling, age 91, of Ovid, MI passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2015. Harvey was a vibrant citizen, local businessman and civic leader of Ovid for nearly all his life. He was the eldest son of Vern and Gladys (Thompson) Darling. Drafted at eighteen, Harvey served for almost three years as head electrician with the 233rd Army Engineer Combat Division in the Pacific theater during World War II. His division was tasked with building roads and supplying equipment to the Marines and infantry units seeking to recapture Japanese held Guam, Leyte in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan.<br \/>\nAfter his return home, he married his wife, Doris (Pickering) Darling, originally of Flint, in 1947 and raised three children, Ronald, Pamela and Rosemary. He and his brother, Oliver, owned and operated Darling\u2019s Inc., a hardware, electrical, plumbing and heating business in Ovid and Elsie until 1996.<br \/>\nAlways active in the community, he served as a councilman and Ovid\u2019s village president throughout the 1960\u2019s, securing federal funding for the village\u2019s first waste water management facility. He was also a volunteer fireman for thirty years. Harvey was a long standing member of the Masonic Lodge #105 of St. Johns-Ovid, the VFW #8964 of Ovid and the American Legion #502 of Elsie.<br \/>\nEven in the last year of his life, he was elected a trustee to the Ovid City Charter Commission, hoping to see his hometown achieve the status and benefits of a city. Along with Doris, his beloved wife of 63 years, he was also an active church member for the United Church of Ovid. He will be greatly missed by his family, who will always remember his dedication to service, his quiet optimism and his open heart.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his children and their spouses, Ronald Darling (Terry) of Florissant, MO, Pamela Tyner (Joseph) of Grafton, WI, and Rosemary Baese (Kirk) of Ovid, MI. He was a cherished grandfather to Ryan Baese (Jessica), Nicholas Darling (Erin), Breanna Baese Recker (Branden), and Kathryn Tyner Engler (Zachary), and great-grandfather to Jack Baese, Lucy Darling and Sadie Darling. He is also survived by his brother, Ivan Darling (Ruth) of Engadine, MI. Egres, age 50, of Alma, formerly of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, Michigan.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, Michigan on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Andy Croel and Pastor Tom Brackbill officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.<br \/>\nMark was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 10, 1964, the son of Al and Carol A. (Atkins) Egres. Mark graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1982. On July 10, 2002 he married Karen (Rivest) Rodriguez in St. Johns, Michigan. He worked for Home Depot in the Kitchen Cabinet Department, and he also had worked for Volunteers of America in St. Johns, Michigan. Mark had resided most of his life in St. Johns moving to Alma 8 years ago. He served as a board member for Community Mental Health, for Clinton, Ingham, and Eaton Counties. The past 7 years he served on the Gratiot County Mental Health Board. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Alma, MI.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his beloved wife Karen Egres, parents Al and Carol Egres, 2 sisters; Cheryl and Jeff Crum, Denise and Sanford Worden, 2 stepdaughters; Kelly and Steve Shultz, Melinda and Christian Jordan, step-granddaughter, Brooke Shultz, niece Maddie Crum, and nephew Jake Crum. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Ryan, age 94, passed away February 19, 2015.  Born July 21,1920 in Essex Twp., the daughter of Carl and Castella (Mesevery) Ryan.  Nellie worked at MacKinnon &#038; Son Fabric Store until she retired and the store closed in 1984.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and volunteered at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, Clinton Memorial Hospital, the Senior Center and was the Kiwanis Layperson of the year in 2001.<br \/>\nSurviving is sister, Margaret Ann Swanchara of Bannister and several nieces and nephews. Nellie was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl \u201cKenneth\u201d Ryan and John Ryan,  sisters-in-law, Mary \u201cKay\u201d Ryan and Kathleen Wickiser Ryan and brother-in-law, Edward Swanchara.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating, burial at Payne Cemetery.  The family will receive friends, Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns.
