Alan J. Thelen, Karen L. Egres
\nAlan J. Thelen<\/strong>
\n\"thelen_alan\"Alan J. Thelen, a loving husband, father and grandfather, 81 of St. Johns, MI died unexpectedly at Sparrow Clinton Hospital on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Alan was born on March 11, 1934 in St. Johns, MI the son of Julius and Anna (Spitzley) Thelen. He graduated from Fowler High School and went to Central Michigan University where he played football and basketball for Central. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he worked for the State of Michigan as a supervisor at the Boys Training School and a manager for the Girls Halfway house for 30 years. On June 21, 1958 he married L. Alice Strachota in Bannister, MI. He was an incredibly loving, caring and devoted husband to his beautiful wife, Alice. She passed away on May 15, 2014. Alan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and he especially enjoyed his family and the grandchildren.
\nHe is survived by daughter Linda Thelen, son Tim Thelen, daughter Julie Aprill, son-in-law, Brian Aprill grandchildren, Nicole White, Brianna White, Tayler Thelen, Desmond White and Michael Thelen; one great grandson, Aidan Washburne; a brother Mark Thelen, sisters Millie Smith and Aileen Thelen and sister-in-law Eldine Thelen. He was preceded by brother Justin and sisters Laurene Thelen, Germaine Rehmann and Juliana Thelen.
\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams as celebrant. The family will greet friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a> on Monday, March 23, 2015, 4-8 P.M. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. that evening. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.<\/p>\n

Karen L. Egres<\/strong>
\n\"egres_karen\"Karen L. Egres, 54 of Alma, formerly of St. Johns, MI died on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at home. Karen was born on November 12, 1960 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Frank and Mary Gene (O’Toole) Rivest. She graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School in 1979 and had worked at Hazel Findlay Country Manor as an aide for several years. Karen married Louis Rodriquez in 1994 and he died in 1998. In 2002 she married Mark Egres and he died on Feb. 18, 2015. Karen loved, baking, embroidery, gardening and animals.
\nSurvivors are her daughters, Kelly (Steve) Shultz of Laingsburg, MI and Melinda (Christian) Jordon of Mason, MI granddaughter Brook Shultz; siblings James (Sharon) Rivest of Lewiston, MI, Michael (Kathy) Rivest of Metamora, MI, Thomas of British Columbia, Patrick (Carol) Rivest of Yorktown, IN, Kevin (Mary Jo) Rivest of Findley, OH; twin sister Kay (Mark) Berkesch of Grosse Pointe, MI, Judy (Bill) Kissane of St. Johns, MI and Yvonne (Jim) Mosley of Potterville, MI and aunt Geraldine Chanler of Portland OR. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Louie and Mark.
\nFuneral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a> in St. Johns on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Tom Brackbill officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Sunday, March 22, 2015, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.<\/p>\n
