On May 14 James Kentfield challenged the SJHS Class of 2000 to donate $25 each to help move the Spray Park project along.
\n” I love St. Johns and the great memories and friends that helped make me who I am,” he said. “When I look back on my childhood and teenage years, I wouldn’t change a thing and love that you all were part of it, from Perrin Palmer, to RBW right on through graduation. the Class of 2000 knew how to do did it right. AND. . . we will always be family for having grown up together. Let’s help give something back and keep SJ special!”<\/p>\n

The next day Kentfield set up a GoFundMe page<\/a>, and the class responded. “We need at least 40 people to donate $25 to reach $1,000 and have ‘SJHS Class of 2000’ on the plaque,” he reminded them.<\/p>\n

\"classpray\"By May 17 the Class was only $50 away from the $2000 mark. The next day they learned from Suzie Murphy Fromson, one of the co-chairs, that their donation will be matched dollar for dollar when they move the funds over to the Patronicity website.<\/p>\n

One of the city commissioners emailed Kentfield a couple of days later and asked to meet him. Because Kentfield lives in Nashville now, a conference call was scheduled. She ultimately just wanted to thank all of the Class members for what they have done.<\/p>\n

“On Tuesday when we spoke, she said that at least four other classes were now doing this,” said Kentfield.
\n“She said she was shocked to find out that I wasn’t even in the area anymore and still took the time to put the challenge out there. I told her there are SOOO many of us from all over the country that have jumped on board as I know we had money come in from LA, Seattle, Florida and North Carolina, just to name a few.”<\/p>\n
