\"andyth\"Beginning July 20<\/p>\n

Andy T added education to his multifaceted farm this year. His Future Farmers summer day camp offers hands-on agricultural education for elementary aged children. They will spend a portion of each day out in the fields tending and harvesting either vegetables or Andy’s famous sweet corn.<\/p>\n

“Our snacks every day will consist of what we harvested that morning or other local produce,” commented camp leader and coordinator, Liz Janetzke.<\/p>\n

Campers will also learn how weather, soil, insects, and technology affect today’s farmers through a variety of activities. We aim to educate children about agriculture and inspire our youth to get outside and active while also modeling positive work ethic.<\/p>\n

Ms. Janetzke is excited to collaborate with Briggs Public Library and Farm Bureau in this endeavor! Most afternoons during each one-week session, a member of the Briggs staff will come out to our camp and share a farm related book and craft. Our local Farm Bureau contributed funds for several partial scholarships to make camp possible for children interested in having fun while learning about agriculture.<\/p>\n

Session 1 is July 20-24th<\/strong>
\n– Ages 7 – 9 (first through third grade)
\n– harvesting small crops like peppers and cucumbers<\/p>\n

Session 2 is August 3-7th<\/strong>
\n– Ages 8-11 (second through fourth grade)
\n– harvesting Andy T’s sweet corn<\/p>\n

Both run from 9 am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday.<\/p>\n

If you have any questions about our program, please come to our Market on July 15th between 6 and 8 pm during our Camp Open house. Those who register on or before this date will receive a discount on the registration fees.<\/p>\n
