Local Physician practice receives Blues Provider Distinction Award<\/p>\n
Sparrow Medical Group – St. Johns earned designation by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a Blues Provider Distinction Award winner for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n
The primary care practice was recognized for its outstanding achievement in meeting Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set\u00ae measures related to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service’s Star Quality Program.<\/p>\n
“These programs are about strengthening the bond between doctors and patients to achieve lasting improvements in healthcare quality,” said Ed Bruun, President and CEO of Sparrow Clinton Hospital. “We are very pleased our physician practice has been recognized for taking the lead in documenting the high quality, patient-centered care they provide to all our patients.”<\/p>\n
Criteria for earning the Provider Distinction Award were based on 2013 base performance recognition program data for care provided to BCBSM Medicare Plus Blue PPO and BCN Advantage HMO-POS members. Practices must receive an 80 percent or higher composite quality score to be eligible for an award.<\/p>\n
