St. Johns Mint Festival is August 11-13

Make plans now to celebrate the St. Johns Mint Festival this year. In addition to mint chocolate chip ice cream and other mint goodies, we celebrate our farming heritage with shows and pageants, tournaments and events, with parades, live music, beer tents, kids’ events and so much more. Festival Parking is located at 800 W Sickles St.

Players will be ranked in the grade division they will enter in the Fall of 2023. You will find them at St. Johns Middle School, 900 W Townsend Rd.

AgroExpo is August 15-16

On August 15 and 16 you are invited to attend AgroExpo – Michigan’s largest agricultural trade show.

All County residents invited to August 30 Bengal Twp open house

You are invited to an Open House where you can show appreciation and thanks to members of all law enforcement officers of Clinton County including sheriff, and city/township police and village police departments for their efforts keeping Clinton County safe.

The event will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Township Hall, 6586 West M-21 west of St Johns.


Arts Council offers classes in August

Wood Burning Class with Lauri Stephens Tuesday, August 15

1:30 – 4:00 p.m.

Beginner’s Wood Burning Class?

In this fun and creative beginners’ class at the Art & Soul Gallery, Lauri Stephens will teach you the basics of wood burning, such as how to safely use a burning iron, temperature management, image transferring, and which woods are best to use. You can design up to two, frameable, 5 x 7 illustrations with plenty of time to practice beforehand! Bring your friends, family or just your wonderful self and create with us! This class is intended for ages 10 and up. Younger patrons will require a parent.

All supplies will be included. This class costs $35.

Watercolor Skill Building Workshop with Lisabeth Curnow – Tuesday, August 22

1:00 – 5:00 PM

No more wishy-washy watercolor paintings. Learn the principles and techniques needed to take your watercolor paintings to the next level in this Watercolor Workshop at The Art & Soul Gallery. Through a series of skill building exercises, award winning watercolor artist, Lisabeth Curnow, will show you how to create various textures, shadows, and depth of tone. These skills will enable you to paint more realistic landscapes and still-life.

This workshop is for anyone interested in creating watercolor paintings that are inspired by the world around them.

Previous watercolor experience is helpful. Bring your own supplies to get a better understanding and knowledge of how to use them. Otherwise, supplies will be provided.

RBW Class of 1963 to celebrate 60th reunion August 12

Rodney B. Wilson High School Class of 1963 will hold a 60th reunion on Saturday, August 12, St. Johns Mint Festival Weekend, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. They plan to eat at at 6 p.m.

The celebration will take place at AgroLiquid’s Conference Center, 3055 West M-21 in St. Johns. No Liquor. The cost per person is $40.

Chamber of Commerce produces a local coloring book

The St. Johns Area Chamber of Commerce presents a new way to explore the community. They are thrilled to announce a vibrant, exciting addition to our range of community resources – a brand-new, locally-inspired coloring book.

This isn’t just any coloring book. Beautifully illustrated, it captures the unique spirit of our city, highlighting local landmarks, businesses and focal points of our community. This project aims not only to provide a fun, relaxing activity, but also to promote local knowledge and community pride among residents.

These books will be sold at the souvenir booth during Mint Festival. They can also be purchased at New Look Computer and Data. They sell for $3.00 for 1 coloring book or or $10 for 5 books.


Summer of Giving still underway

Oh Mi Organics has teamed up with Briggs District Library for their Summer Of Giving Community Donation Drive. Beginning on July 10 they are collecting the following items:

Week 6: August 14 – 19
School Supplies
(Pencils, Crayons, Markers, Notebooks, Folders, Pencil Cases, Pens, Backpacks)

Items will be distributed to the St. Johns Baby Pantry, Beacon of Hope, Safe Center, and Basic Needs Center.
