To celebrate the many downtown businesses of St. Johns, the City of St. Johns has created The Mint City Press. Each month we will be putting a spotlight on various businesses located downtown.

In October they highlighted some businesses that offer fall related items.

Singers On The Grand coming to the Middle School November 11

Imagine if you went to a music show and BAM! these fabulous ladies walked out an knocked your socks off.

Well, you can have that happen at the Singers On The Grand and the Grand Band performance on Saturday, November 11 at the at the St. Johns Middle School Auditorium, 900 W. Townsend Rd. at 7:00 p.m.

Come hear these ladies and the rest of the group perform the music of Carley Simon, The Beatles, Chicago, The Eagles, Dolly Parton, The Monkees, Tony Bennett, Elvis and many more of your favorites. It’s all part of their 25th anniversary show Vintage Vinyl: The hits we spun 1950s – 1980s.

Tickets now on sale for SJPS Theatre’s Mean Girls

Tickets are now on sale at sjdrama.ludus.com for the group’s production of Mean Girls on November 10, 11 and 12.

Adapted from Tina Fey’s hit 2004 film, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards. This queen-bee story took Broadway by storm and has now joined the musical in-crowd. And now so can you.

Like the movie, Mean Girls High School Version is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for all audiences.


Briggs District Library to hold silent auction

In November the Briggs District Library is hosting an online silent auction to raise funds for their up-coming facility renovation project. Many items are being donated by local businesses and organizations, making this the perfect opportunity to acquire unique holiday gifts while supporting the library.

All auction items will be available for viewing online and at the library starting Monday, October 30. Bidding will begin Saturday, November 4 and close at noon on Saturday, November 11.

To view or place a bid on auction items, visit http://bidpal.net/briggslibraryfundraiser. Library staff will also be available to accept bids for those wishing to place their bid in person.

A reception for auction winners and those who donated items will be held at the library from 4:30-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11.

Surviving the Holidays to be presented November 11

On November 11 St. John’s Lutheran Church will present Griefshare’s Surviving the Holidays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Grief is harder around the holidays. Know how to deal with the challenges.

Facing this season while grieving can sometimes feel like taking one step forward and two steps back. But like a trusted guide, a 2-hour Surviving the Holidays event will prepare you to navigate the season’s changes.

Veterans Appreciation Dinner is November 10

Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck and the Lowe Global Methodist Congregation are excited to once again invite you to join them for an evening of appreciation and fellowship at the Lowe Global Methodist Church on Friday, November 10.

Historical Society’s Calendar now available


Buy it for the calendar; keep it for the vintage photos.

Help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Clinton County Historical Society

The Clinton County Historical Society was established in 1974. To begin the celebration they have collected vintage photographs from around the county to illustrate a 2024 calendar.

Beyond its practical use, the calendar will make a great souvenir or gift. It is now available.

Calendars are available for purchase at the Clinton County Historical Museum located in the Paine-Gillam-Scott House, 106 Maple and Trek Power Equipment, 510 N. Lansing St.in St. Johns.
