Julia Gloria Petrick

Julia Gloria Petrick, age 63, of DeWitt died at her home surrounded by her loving family on August 30, 2023.

Julia was born on March 8, 1960, to Pedro and Tomasa (Rios) Ramos in Ionia, Michigan, and was one of seven children. In 1979 she met the love of her life, Daniel Petrick. In 1983 Julia and Daniel were married and celebrated over 40 years of wedded bliss.

During her life she found great joy in following her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Julia was a faithful member of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints in St. Johns for most of her life. She enjoyed dancing and taking annual anniversary trips to Famous Taco in Lansing with her husband. She had a heart for kids and any kid that came into her life she would show great love to.

Along with her beloved husband, those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tawnie (Micheal) Paullus, and Peter (Chelsea) Petrick; grandchildren, Ahdya, Anya, Michael, and Daniel; great-grandson Leighton. She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her aunt and uncle, Cosme and Maria Elena Villarreal.

Janice Deone Frost

Janice Deone Frost, age 94, of St. Johns, MI, on August 29, 2023 joined her loving husband, Melvin and children: Adele and Russell.

Janice was born in her parent’s home in St. Johns on February 16, 1929, the daughter of Percy L. and Bernice A. (Upton) Creaser. Janice married Melvin Frost and together they bought and farmed Melvin’s family farm and Janice’s family homestead. Janice worked and retired from the State of Michigan as a Key Punch Operator. She loved tending to her flower gardens. Being very artistic, she was very talented at interior decorating.

Janice is survived by her daughter Jo Anne (Ron) Litwiller and daughter Connie (Tom) Allen; 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 71 years who passed away on July 26, 2019, both her daughter and son who passed away in January of 2017, and her two sisters.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date.

Frederick Karl Tiedt

Frederick Karl Tiedt, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 5, 2023 at the age of 84. He was born on March 7, 1939 to Frederick Herman Tiedt and Esther (Fischer) Tiedt in Fowler, Michigan. He grew up in Fowler where he attended local public schools and laid the foundation for an accomplished life.

Frederick married the love of his life, Victoria (Vicci) Mulleneux Tiedt, on January 15, 1966. Victoria preceded him in death in January of 2020, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

As a young man, Frederick pursued higher education, attending Central Michigan University and Lansing Business College. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to his studies laid the groundwork for his later accomplishments.

Professionally, Frederick ventured into a diverse range of business experiences. From being District Tire Manager for J.N. Ceazan in southern California, to owning a fire extinguisher company, he showcased his entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.

Frederick and Victoria’s life adventure led them to reside in Ventura, California, where they became active members of the St. John’s Lutheran Church community. In 2006 they relocated to Gig Harbor, Washington, bringing their warmth and devotion to the King of Glory Lutheran Church.

Together they nurtured a passion for travel, embarking on memorable journeys to destinations around the world. They shared their wanderlust with their sons and grandchildren, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable experiences. Notable among their adventures were Alaskan cruises and explorations across the globe, often in the company of dear friends.

Frederick is survived by his two sons, Frederick Scott Tiedt and his wife Jackie of Boone, Iowa and Brian Mead Tiedt and his partner Michele Lewis of Gig Harbor, Washington.

Frederick’s legacy continues through his three adored grandchildren: Alana, Juliet, and Frederick del Regato, residing in Castle Rock, Colorado.

In this time of mourning, we remember Frederick Karl Tiedt as a loving husband, dedicated father, and grandfather. His life was a testament to the power of love, family, and exploration. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A small private ceremony was held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Frederick Karl Tiedt.


Stanley Raymond Helms

Stanley Raymond Helms, age 73, of St. Johns, MI, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

No services to be held at this time.

Stanley was born in Carson City, MI on November 13, 1949, the son of David Orbin and Winifred U. (VanDouser) Helms. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1967. On June 26, 1970 Stanley married Barbara Ann Brown at St. Johns United Methodist Church; and she survives him.

Stanley was a Superintendent of Public Works for the City of St. Johns, retiring in 2000. He also worked as an Attendance Officer for Clinton and Ingham Counties. Stanley owned S & B Janitorial in St. Johns. He was a past member of the Clinton County Sheriff Posse Mounted Division. He liked and owned many muscle cars. Spending time with his family brought him great joy. He was also very fond of his cat, Paisley and many German Shepherds as well as his horse, Jet.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; his son Robert Helms; his son Benjamin and Angela Helms; his granddaughter Madison Helms; his grandson Brock Helms; and his brother Thomas Helms. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Janice Helms.

Sharon Lee Irrer

Sharon Lee Irrer, age 79, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Lansing, MI.

A Graveside Service will be held at Mt. Rest Cemetery, 706 East Steel Street, St. Johns, MI 48879, at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:45 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.

Sharon was born in St. Johns, Michigan on August 2, 1944, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Pratt) Roof. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1962. Sharon married William Irrer on September 19, 1964 in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Sharon worked at Hazel Findlay Country Manor for seven years and went on to work at Clinton Memorial Hospital for fifteen years. Before working, she was a stay-at-home mom and was most proud of her home and family. Sharon enjoyed sewing, crafting, painting, and was very artistic. She looked forward to holidays where she decorated their home with vintage German Putz decorations. Sharon liked the flowers around her home; some of her favorites were Gladiolas, Tulips, and Hydrangea’s. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her animals.

Sharon and Bill were members of The Golden Glow of Christmas Past, a vintage Christmas club. They traveled to Europe twice to attend Christmas Markets. They also traveled the United States extensively, some of Sharon’s favorite destinations were: Copper Harbor, Yellowstone, San Francisco, and Washington DC.

She is survived by her husband Bill Irrer; her son Leon Ernst; her daughters: Jamie Kiel, and Tami and Bryan Bellingar; her grandchildren: Nick Ernst, Jenna and Max Miller, Mariah and Kenny Lieby, Victoria and Andre McDuffey, Jessica Kiel, Hunter Kiel; and her great-grandchildren: Nellie Leiby, Lennox Miller, Neva Leiby, Kellan Ernst, Loxley Miller, Nora McDuffey, and Roen McDuffey. She is also survived by her sisters: Paula Reynolds, Pam Boak, and Judy and Gary Moon; her brother-in-law Paul Ritz; her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Jean Irrer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Gerald and Elsie Irrer, her great-granddaughters: Gianna and Amelia Ernst, one sister Kaye Ritz, and her brother-in-law Don Boak.
