Jacob Wayne Webster
Jacob Wayne Webster of DeWitt, was born on July 13, 1992 in Lansing, Michigan, the youngest of three children born to Ralph G. Webster, Jr. and Julie Ann Owen, and left us far too soon, on June 3, 2023 after being struck by a deer while traveling on his quad. Jake was an ambitious, dedicated, charismatic, and adventurous soul who touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. Jake lived his life to the fullest, always surrounded by people he loved, embracing adventure and never shying away from a challenge.
Jake graduated from St. Johns High School in 2010, was a dedicated worker and worked numerous places before he landed at the State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget. He worked his way from laborer to maintenance mechanic – always aspiring to grow and achieve.
A talented carpenter and a natural people person, Jake also turned his passion for helping others into a thriving business, Ten Point Improvements. His love for life was evident in his hobbies, which included working, his family and friends, hunting, his golf cart, and lighting up his house and vehicles like a disco ball. He had a special bond with his grandmother Iva, and cherished the opportunity to buy her land and continue the generations of trouble and adventures on the property.
At the heart of Jake’s life was his family. Meeting Bailee Wilkins at a family wedding, he knew immediately that she was “the one.” They met on June 4, 2017, quickly fell in love, married on August 3, 2019, and welcomed the light of their lives, their son Walker, on June 9, 2022. He was overjoyed at the news of welcoming another son this August.
Jake was the perfect family man and father who loved Bailee and Walker tremendously and loved to go on adventures with them. Together they enjoyed kayaking, boating, traveling, Sunday dinners, hunting, dancing at Tequila Cowboy, vacationing together and more. Jake had a great love of (loud, eclectic) music, but with “three left feet”, he took dancing lessons in order to share in one of Bailee’s passions. Every weekend he was able, Jake would host bonfires and dinners at his house for family and friends. He always made sure that family and friends were at the center of his world.
Jake’s engaging, warm spirit will be deeply missed by his wife, Bailee Webster; their son, Walker and their baby boy due in August; his mother, Julie Owen; grandmother, Jenny Owen; sister, Elizabeth Webster; brother, Ralph (Alisha) Webster, III; niece, Isla; in-laws, Chad and Cat Wilkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Saige, Jacqleen, Symone and Cordell Wilkins; many, many dear friends, including, Zac Martens, Jeff Sillman, Brock Williams, Zach Tallman, Nick Huguelet, Spencer and Dustin Speerbrecker and Lucas Ketchum. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Grover Webster, Jr.; sister, Ashley Webster and grandparents, Iva and Willard Farrier, Wayne Owen.
Visitation will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 and Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home, St. Johns on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11 AM, with gathering beginning at 10 AM. Cremation will follow. A luncheon will be held at Speer Electric.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his family, Bailee Webster c/o McGeehan Funeral Home, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns MI 48879.
