Marie C.Thelen

Marie C. (Simon) Thelen, formerly of St. Johns, MI passed away on February 9, 2023. She was residing at New Hope Bay Facility in Bay City. She was born on July 25, 1933 to Alfred and Eva Simon. She married Alvin J. Thelen on May 20, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI who preceded her in death on July 6, 2014.

Cremation has taken place per her wishes. A Celebration of her life is being planned for July of 2023.

Survivors include: her six children Steven (Nancy) Thelen, Vickie (Michael) Thompson, Debra (Gary) Serrino, Douglas (Kim) Thelen, Jim Thelen and Sandra (Jim) Osowski; six grandchildren: Vanessa (Michael) Daniel-Collins, Renee (Jordan) Klues, Joshua Thompson, Julie (Adam) Conover, Amber Thelen and Samantha Osowski; six great grandchildren: Isabella and Jayden Daniel-Collins, Carter and Kara Klues and Lillie and Lydia Conover; sisters: Georgianna (Patrick) Kelly, Rosalie Ankney and Sr. Georgianna Simon, SSJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul and Hilary Simon, brother-in-law Donald Ankney and grandson Bradley Thelen.

Marie’s family would like to thank the staff at New Hope, the team from Americans Hospice for their kind and compassionate care they extended to Marie and the entire family. Marie will be missed by her family and friends but will be in our hearts forever.


Harold Daniel Nolan

Harold Daniel Nolan, age 79 of St. Johns, MI passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home.

Harold was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 14, 1944, the son of Harold Bruce and Florence Euphemia (Blood) Nolan.

Harold served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Harold was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He loved animals, hunting with his dogs and his two special kittens. He also loved to ride motorcycles and shop. Harold was a jack of many trades and was great at working on cars. He was a wonderful husband. His family was very important to him and he will be remembered as a great friend to all.

Memorials may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing, MI. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan.
