Constance Marie Schafer

Constance Marie Schafer, 86, passed away on December 9, 2022 at Robinwood Landing Memory Care in Lansing.  She was born June 4, 1936 in Westphalia Michigan to Leo and Rose Bauer.  She married Jerome Schafer on November 22, 1958 in Westphalia.  Connie was a homemaker, raising five children before returning to the workforce for several years and then joining her husband in retirement.  She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, rides in the country, going out to eat, walks, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her children Sandy (Kevin) McMahon, Sheila (Lars) Rolandson, Sharon (Dan) Jegla, Susie (Pat) Schneider, and Steve Schafer; seven grandchildren Amy (Eddie) Buonopane, Melissa (Mike) McIntosh, Kyle McMahon, Ryan McMahon, Brendan (Meg) McMahon, Laura (Michael) Dainton, and Eric Jegla; seven great-grandchildren Anabella and Cora Buonopane, Lillian and Leo McIntosh, and Scarlett, Cora, and Silas Dainton; and many special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerome and her siblings Rosemary (Norman) Thelen, Gerald Bauer, Alice (Leo) Fox, Jerome (Marlene) Bauer, and Jim Bauer.

A funeral mass will be held December 21, 2022, at 10:30 A.M., at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 545 N. Maple Street, Fowler MI 48835, with a luncheon to follow interment.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial Contributions to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family is being served by Cremation Society Of Mid-Michigan.


Timothy Richard Wiseman

Timothy Richard Wiseman passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home in St. Johns on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He was 66 years old.

Tim was born in Marquette, Michigan on December 23, 1955 to Thomas and Patricia (Truckey) Wiseman. He grew up in Cadillac, Michigan and graduated from Cadillac Senior High School in 1974. He went on to earn a degree in marketing from Michigan State University in 1978 and then worked as a manager at Montgomery Ward until it closed. He later worked as a store manager for Midas until he had to go on disability following surgery for a brain tumor in 1992. He was married to the former Kathleen Tollefson from 1982 – 1996.

Tim was faced with many challenges in life, but he was always happy and never complained. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, garage sales, lottery tickets, Burger King, cars and his beloved Spartans.

He was very inquisitive, and we will all miss his many questions as well as his laughter and sense of humor.

He is survived by his five siblings, Paula (Dick Starck) Wiseman, Patti (Dave) Smith, Tom (Michelle) Wiseman, Dave Wiseman and Jennifer (Chuck) Henrich as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Patricia.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 3815 S. Cedar Street, Lansing on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 12 Noon with visitation from 10:30 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette in the spring.

Roberta Amelia Kelley

Roberta Amelia Kelley, age 82 of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Roberta was born in Passaic, New Jersey on January 12, 1940, the daughter of Harold and Amelia (Tetla) Hinkley. She was a graduate of Elsie High School. Roberta retired from Michigan National Bank. She loved spending time with family and playing card games. She was an avid bowler, loved to read books, and watch NASCAR. Roberta also enjoyed camping and playing Bingo.

She is survived by her son James and Teresa Kelley of Mecosta, MI; son Daniel Kelley of Ashley, MI; daughter Elizabeth and Thomas Pearson of Ovid, MI; daughter Colleen Pearson of St. Johns, MI; daughter Kitty and Mark Powers of Manton, MI; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; sister Helen and Edward Seczney of Leslie, MI; sister Wilma Burke of Florida; brother-in-law Michael and Krissann Kelley of Lansing, MI. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Kelley, Sr. on May 12, 1996, and her sons: David Kelley on June 14, 2022, and Robert Kelley, Jr. on September 21, 1991, also her brother and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to Hazel Findlay Country Manor. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan.


Jeanette Gertrude Powers

Jeanette Gertrude Powers, 93, of St. Johns, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on December 10, 2022. She was first born of nine children to Allie and Leona (Hoppes) Pohl on December 23, 1928.

On June 28, 1947 she married Russell Henning. Together, they raised four children, Michael (Shirley) Henning, Patti Caswell, Sally (Steve) Lackey and Judy (Bob) Mills; her grandchildren, Melissa Fisher, Chad Moinet, Matthew Moinet, Brent Moinet, Dr. Jason Caswell, Joshua Caswell, and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert “Pat” (Gaye) Pohl and Dorothy (Mike) Bertram.

On April 30, 1983, she married Robert Powers. She is survived by stepsons, Robert (Michelle) Powers and Terry (Patty) Powers, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; siblings, Carol Mueller, Betty Hale, Kate Prowant, Ronald Pohl, Michael Pohl, Norman Pohl; son-in-law, Mark Caswell; grandson, Derek Henning; great-grandson, Connor Moinet and step-children, Sharon Pollack and Deb Childs.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 1 PM. Burial Mt. Rest Cemetery. Friends may visit the McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel on Wednesday from 10 AM – 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Promedica Hospice, 865 South Cedar Street, Mason MI 48854.
