Born July 22, 1943 to Peter C. and Irene (Simon) Schrauben in Westphalia, MI. Pete married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Joan Beatrice Motz on February 8, 1964.<\/p>\n<p>They were happily married for almost 57 years.  Their selfless love for each other was a perfect example for their four children; Steven G.(Donna) Schrauben, Krista (Tom) Hallead, Kelly (Larry) St. George all from St. Johns, MI and Suzanne (Steve) Komdeur of Greenville, MI. Grandpa Pete&#8217;s pride and joy was the time he got to spend with his eleven grandchildren; Peter, Matthew, Joseph and Cassandra Schrauben; Andrew, Samuel and Magdalyn Hallead, Lauren, William and Charles St. George; and Adaline Komdeur.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by sister Donna (David)Hawkins; Isabel Viges; Camilla (Darwin)Smith; Gwen (Maurice) Dershem; Mary Bradbury. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William (Glenna) Schrauben, James (Kay) Schrauben; sisters Joan (Donald) Salmond, Mary Jane (Preston)Sammonds; in-laws Herman and Magdalen Motz; brother-In-Law Enza Viges, Michael (Shirley) Motz, Larry Bradbury and Stephen Motz.<\/p>\n<p>Peter grew up in Fowler, MI and graduated from Fowler Public Schools, Class of 1962.  He was a football stand-out, with an opportunity to play in college but opted to stay at home and help on the family farm.  He had many jobs after graduation besides farming, including carpentry work helping to remodel Most Holy Trinity Church in Fowler and then working for over 34 years at General Motors.<\/p>\n<p>In his retirement, Pete kept himself busy on his own farm but also at the neighbor&#8217;s farm, working outside, and playing cards.  Joan and Pete enjoyed their late night trips to the casino too.  Pentwater, MI was a camping tradition for years that will continue to bring happy times and priceless memories.  The grandkids will always remember grandpa&#8217;s silly stories around the campfire.  One of Pete&#8217;s greatest pastimes was spending time with family.  They always were his priority.  His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was apparent in everything he did. Pete was known for his hard work ethic, infectious smile, silly demeanor and generous spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Pete was a very active member of St. Joseph Church, serving as an usher, Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  His love of the Lord is what gave him his strength through the hard times.<\/p>\n<p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 30, at 11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden St., St. Johns, with the Rev. Father Michael Williams officiating. On June 23, 1962 Bruno married Mary Ann Thelen at St. Mary&#8217;s Catholic Church in Westphalia.<\/p>\n<p>Bruno retired from General Motors as a millwright after 43 years of service. He enjoyed crosswords, bowling, gardening, and watching all types of sporting events. He also looked forward to fishing at Houghton Lake during the summer.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of the E.J. Werner VFW Post 3733 American Services. Bruno served his country in the United States Army in Darmstadt, Germany. He was also a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Fowler Eagles Athletic Boosters.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Cook of Fowler, MI, son Douglas and Maria Cook of DeWitt, MI, daughter Renee and Donald Desbles of Palatine, IL, grandchildren: Molly (Jameson) Cook of Grand Haven, MI, Abigail Cook of St. Johns, MI, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Gen Martin of Westphalia, MI, Bernice Thelen of Westphalia, MI and Larry and Jennette Thelen of Hastings, MI. Their marriage was blessed with 13 children, 41 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Donald passed away on September 25, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Alice enjoyed making quilts, traveling, fishing, and trips to the casino. She also liked playing cards and color tours. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her children: Joanne and Chuck Miller, Leon and Stephanie Schneider, Joyce and Mike Bond, Jim and Sue Schneider, Gary and LuAnn Schneider, Mark and Marilyn Schneider, Joe and D. Ann Schneider, Bob Schneider and Michael Martin, Mike and Dawn Schneider, Patty and Kurt Koenigsknecht, Terry and Carrie Schneider, daughter-in-law Eileen Schneider (Ron), brother Jerry and Kaye Schafer, and a large extended family. Dorothy was born May 4, 1929 in Eureka, MI. Lambert, a longtime resident of Melbourne, Florida and a recent resident of St. Johns, died peacefully on January 21, 2021 after a long battle with bone cancer. He graduated from Laingsburg High School with the class of 1954.<\/p>\n<p>On December 10, 1955, Frank married Theodora A. Christacopulos at the First Baptist Church in Laingsburg. They were blessed with nearly 50 years together prior to her death on June 13, 2005. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force for 20 years and then continued to serve as a civilian employee for many years.<\/p>\n<p>Frank and Theodora enjoyed years of travel including living in Italy, Turkey, Israel and Korea. He liked spending time with his brothers in the great outdoors hunting, camping and fishing. He passed on his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. Frank&#8217;s unwavering faith in God was the foundation of his life. He was an active member of Grove Bible Church for many years. His faith was a lasting example to everyone who knew him.<\/p>\n<p>Frank is survived by 4 children: Catherine Reed of Lima, OH, Douglas (Sandra) Howard of Grand Rapids, Susan McGinnis of Perrinton, and Lisa Howard of Negaunee; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 siblings: Wendell (Rose) Walker, Arthur (Linda) Howard, Ellis (Bonnie) Howard, Joyce (James) Turner, and Charles (Jeanne) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
