{"id":12869,"date":"2021-07-01T20:58:11","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T00:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/?p=12869"},"modified":"2024-01-31T17:53:09","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T17:53:09","slug":"more-news-169","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/?p=12869","title":{"rendered":"More News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>American Legion recognizes members<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23137\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/legion.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/legion.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/legion-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On June 21 the Officers of American Legion Post 153 St. Johns, MI recognized Lynne Priester (Auxiliary) and Rick Priester (SAL) for their many years of dedicated service to Post 153.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Vice Commander MItch Louth presented each of the Priesters with Certificates of Appreciation and Legion Family jackets.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Sparrow Clinton Hospital awards Whyman healthcare scholarships <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sparrow Clinton Hospital awarded 10 Clinton County students pursuing healthcare careers with $2,000 each in scholarship assistance.<\/p>\n<p>2021 Whyman Scholarship winners are:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Alyssa Benit of St. Johns, entering Saginaw Valley State University for nursing;<br \/>\n&#8211; Mary Billips of St. Johns, attending Grand Valley State University Kirkhof College for Nursing;<br \/>\n&#8211; Rebecca Bovee of DeWitt, attending Ferris State University for pharmacy;<br \/>\n&#8211; Sparrow Clinton caregiver Kelly Cerny of St. Johns, attending Baker College for radiology technology;<br \/>\n&#8211; Brooke Gnegy of St. Johns, attending Saginaw Valley State University for nursing;<br \/>\n&#8211; Adysen Koenigsknecht of Fowler, entering Lansing Community College for dental hygiene;<br \/>\n&#8211; Jada Palmer of St. Johns, attending Grand Valley State University for physician assistant program;<br \/>\n&#8211; Abigail Sjoberg of DeWitt, entering Loyola University, Chicago for neuroscience;<br \/>\n&#8211; Emily Thelen of St. Johns, attending Central Michigan University for speech-language pathology; and<br \/>\n&#8211; Leeann Wilkins of St. Johns, attending Lansing Community College for nursing.<\/p>\n<p>The Merten and Geraldine Whyman Health Careers Scholarship Fund, an endowment fund established in 1986, provides annual scholarships to Clinton County residents for education in a health-related field. They will be located in the back southwest corner of the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is welcome to come, and it is free for all who come.
