It was a cold windy day, but Police Officers Chad Pierson and Ryan Collier were on hand for the collection of food products.<\/p>\n<p>There were six different locations in Bath, DeWitt, Ovid, and St. Johns. Between those locations folks filled twenty-four (24) cop cars with food and collected $4,193 in cash donations for local food banks in Clinton County.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to all for your donations. Many more people will have much needed food this winter!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Elementary students have been caroling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SRPRhM35xTE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, December 15 Mrs Smith&#8217;s class and all the 1st grade teachers and students at Gateway Elementary in St. Johns put together a special program for George French, the 96 year-old grandfather of one of the students.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Eureka Elementary 3rd, 4th and 5th graders were Zoom caroling with residents of Grace Haven Assisted Living.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nSoap Box Derby Committee receives grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23063\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/maralynsoap.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/maralynsoap.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/maralynsoap-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The St. Johns Soap Box Derby Committee has received a St. Johns Area Community Fund grant.<\/p>\n<p>In years past the city has borrowed ramps for the event. Grants range from $10,000 to $25,000 based on total employment and collectively total $1,640,000 funded by the county\u2019s first round of federal COVID relief funding.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2021 the Clinton County Board of Commissioners voted to allocate federal relief funds for small business grants and selected LEAP to design and administer the program. The grant program was designed to assist small businesses negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with an emphasis on demonstrated negative impact due to the pandemic, business longevity, financial need and community impact.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nRelay For Life of Clinton County to kickoff 2022 on January 17<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Relay For Life movement inspires the community to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change.
