There will be painting available for all on June 12 from 10 a.m. &#8211; 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Tracie Davis Art and Murals is honoring first responders with a mural to be painted on the fire station in downtown St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p>This family friendly event is free of charge and fun for all ages and abilities. All supplies and instruction will be provided for this paint by number mural.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Soap Box Derby coming up Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>St. Johns Soap Box Derby in downtown St. Johns will begin on Sunday, June 12 at 10 a.m. on Clinton Ave. It is expected to end about 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>There will be food trucks, a history tent and a day of fun for all. Come out and support your favorite racers.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The RFD Boys kick off Concert in the Park series June 15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in 2 years the St Johns Concert in the Park series will present a regular season of 12 concerts. The opening concert will take place on Wednesday evening, June 15 this year starting at 7:00 p.m.in the William E. Tennant Performance Shell in the beautiful St. Johns City Park.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been looking for a great bluegrass band for a number of years for our concert series,&#8221; says Bill Tennant, series coordinator. &#8220;The RFD Boys are a true crowd pleaser &#8211; one of the best bluegrass groups in the state without question. It&#8217;s a great group to bring to St. Johns to kick off our 2022 season!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The RFD Boys formed in 1969 and now 53 years later are still delivering the bluegrass music that made them an Ann Arbor institution. Since 1985, the Ark, Ann Arbor&#8217;s premier small stage performance venue, has been their home. They have shared the stage with the legends of bluegrass from Bill Monroe to Allison Krauss, been on the cover of Bluegrass Unlimited, and traveled as far as Germany, Monaco, Malta, New Zealand, and Australia. During their 50th anniversary year, they were honored by the Detroit Music Awards and released their first studio album since 1976 entitled <em>RFD Boys at 50 &#8211; Still Delivering.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Members of the group include Dave Mosher on Fiddle\/Mandolin, Dan Roehrig on Guitar, Will Spencer on Banjo, Charlie Roehrig on Guitar and Paul Shapio on Acoustic Bass. They all are singing members of the group.<\/p>\n<p>The concert is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council (CCAC) and the City of St. Johns. It is open to the public free of charge &#8211; donations are graciously accepted.<\/p>\n<p>All concerts are presented rain or shine. The Lion&#8217;s Club food trailer will be available this year &#8211; social distancing and safety precautions are strongly encouraged. The CCAC receives funding from the Michigan Arts &amp; Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Sparrow Clinton Lab open 7 days a week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Sparrow Clinton Hospital Laboratory Services site, 805 S. Oakland Street in St. Johns will be open seven days a week, beginning Saturday, June 4. The lab hours will be:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Monday through Friday: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.<br \/>\n\u2022 Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>For weekend access, please use the hospital\u2019s South Entrance via the Sparrow Clinton Emergency Department. All the materials are supplied.<\/p>\n<p>Contact Theressa the gallery 989-224-2429 or <a href=\"http:\/\/ClintonCountyArts1.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">ClintonCountyArts1.com<\/span><\/a> to sign up for the class.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Family Fun Information Night will be June 21<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Great Start Parent Coalition and the Great Start to Quality Central Resource Center are co-hosting a Family Fun Information Night for Clinton County families on June 21 from 5:50-7 p.m. Families with children ages 0-12 are encouraged to come the Clinton County RESA Educational Center located at 4179 South U.S. 27, just 2.5 miles South of St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers will have local vendors with informational tables set up outside on the playground where you have the opportunity at your leisure to stop by the vendor tables. The Michigan Learning Channel\/PBS, MSU Extension, Head Start, Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Preschool, Briggs District Library, Sleepy Hollow State Park, St. Johns Parks and Recreation, and Michigan Wildlife Conservancy are just some of the program vendors that will be at this event.<\/p>\n<p>This is a great way to connect with other families as you enjoy free children activities and light refreshments. There will also be free gently used books available for children to take. You can talk with other parents in a confidential and judgment free space, meet new people, learn about community resources, and share parenting experiences.<\/p>\n<p>All participants will be entered into two free drawings to receive a $25 gift card.
