{"id":16028,"date":"2022-06-09T20:58:29","date_gmt":"2022-06-10T00:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/?p=16028"},"modified":"2024-01-08T12:36:54","modified_gmt":"2024-01-08T12:36:54","slug":"more-news-208","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/?p=16028","title":{"rendered":"More News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SafeCenter Scramble Golf Outing scheduled for Saturday, June 11<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SafeCenter Domestic and Sexual Violence Services of Clinton and Shiawassee Counties will be hosting their first annual &#8220;SafeCenter Scramble&#8221; Golf Outing next Saturday, June 11, 2022 beginning at 9:00 am at Corunna Hills Golf Course. All proceeds from the event will benefit programs and services provided to child and adult victims\/survivors of domestic and sexual violence served by the agency in both counties.<\/p>\n<p>To get registered for the event, please contact Hannah Gottschalk, Executive Director, by email <a href=\"mailto:hannah@thesafecenter.org\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">hannah@thesafecenter.org<\/span><\/a> or by phone 989-723-9716. The cost is $200 for a team of four ($50\/individual). Registration includes lunch sponsored by LAFUC, 9 holes of golf, the chance to win one of three gift baskets, and a 50\/50 raffle!<\/p>\n<p>By attending this event and giving to SafeCenter, you partner in the mission to Empower, Advocate, Educate, and Prevent and provide essential services to adults and children who are in dangerous and potentially lethal situations. Your contribution also provides SafeCenter with the ability to partner with other community organizations across the area and hold those who seek to do harm to others accountable for their actions. We can&#8217;t do this work alone. Take a stand against Domestic and Sexual Violence, support SafeCenter, and help make our community a safer place to live, work, and play for all.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Arts Council offers Outdoor Sketching Classes June 15 and 16<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join Andrea Czarnik for her Outdoor Sketching classes. Outdoor or plein air sketching gives the artist the opportunity of seeing their subject from different and more creative angles than would be provided through reference photos. These classes will be a total of 4 hours, split over two days in 2 hour classes, at Andy T\u2019s Farm Market, where there are plenty of options for creative objects to draw and unique perspectives. The classes will be held on June 15 and 16 from 1-3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A few supplies are needed for this class include: Canson Mixed Media Sketchbook, 12 watercolor pencil set, an ink pen, sharpener and eraser. Also bring a lawn chair, water bottle and other necessities like sunscreen and an umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>The cost for this class is $50 total. The maximum number of people for this class is 8, so sign up soon before they are gone. Continental breakfast, 18 holes with cart, luncheon, raffles and prizes are all included for only a $75 entry fee.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers are looking for golfers and sponsors to make this outing a success. The money raised helps pay for equipment, uniforms, transportation and much more. Area 28 wants to reach out and include as many children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Special Olympics as possible and safely resume activities.<\/p>\n<p>All Special Olympics programs and activities are provided at no cost to the athletes and their families. There is no state or federal funding.
