Pride Festival is Saturday, June 3 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Please join the St. Johns Call-In Coalition in celebrating the freedom to be ourselves and honor those who made it possible with the 3rd Annual St. Johns Pride Festival on Saturday, June 3 from 12-4 p.m. in downtown St. Johns at Clinton Ave. and Higham St.<\/p>\n

There will be food trucks, speakers, live performances, a family-friendly Drag Show, Rapper, Bands and much more.<\/p>\n

Crystal d\u2019 Light will be featured as MC. Drag has been apart of Crystal d\u2019 Light\u2019s life for almost 5 years now. A lot of her inspiration comes from theater, women in pop from all decades, and anything sparkly. A show with her will have high energy, be family friendly, have silly laughs and be a \u201cd\u2019Light\u201d-full time.<\/p>\n

She was born and raised in Lansing and wants to help St. Johns spread the love\/ She says she is very happy and honored to help MC this years pride Fest,and she plans on bringing some fierce entertainers to the show.<\/p>\n

Special Olympics is holding its 27th annual Golf Scramble June 17<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emerald Golf Club, north of St. Johns, will host the Special Olympics Area 28 Golf Scramble on June 17. They are looking for golfers and sponsors to help make the fundraiser a great success.<\/p>\n

The money earned helps pay for equipment, uniforms, transportation and much more. Area 28 wants to include as many children and adults with intellectual disabilities with your support.<\/p>\n

Special Olympics cannot provide its program to athletes free of charge without the support of donors and fund raisers. Area 28 is run solely by volunteers. They are now resuming events for area athletes.<\/p>\n

Golf registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Payment of $75 per golfer due at the event.<\/p>\n

CSFP provides Free healthy foods to Seniors 60 years and older<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the prices at the grocery store at an all time high and the extra pandemic amount given for food stamps no longer available, Michigan Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can help.<\/p>\n

Food Boxes Provided Include<\/p>\n

– Milk
\n– shelf stable milk
\n– Peanut Butter or Dry Beans
\n– Rice or Pasta
\n– Cereal
\n– Cheese
\n– Canned Fruits
\n– Canned Vegetables<\/p>\n

Certification for the Program is required every 3 years, and you will need to bring:
\n– A Form of ID (Proof of Date of Birth)
\n– Knowledge of Income<\/p>\n

Michigan offers CSFP in every county. CSFP foods are distributed at a variety of sites such as churches, senior centers, senior housing and
\ncommunity buildings. If you cannot pick up your box, someone may be your
\n\u201cproxy\u201d and will need a note from you to pick up your box.<\/p>\n

Local student graduates from U of Wisconsin-Milwaukee<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mark Connelly of DeWitt was among the 3,115 prospective candidates for degree attending University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee commencement exercises Sunday, May 21, 2023 in Milwaukee. He graduated from the College of Health Sciences with a Bachelor of Science degree.<\/p>\n

UWM is the second largest university in the State of Wisconsin with over 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students.<\/p>\n

Open House for retiring pastor coming up June 29<\/strong><\/p>\n

All are invited to Kathy Leydorf-Keck’s Retirement Party on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lowe Methodist Church Social Hall located at 5485 Lowe Road, St. Johns.<\/p>\n

Museum open for the 2023 season<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Clinton County Historical Museum Paine-Gillam-Scott House has announced their 2023 season: Our Town: The Way We Were.<\/em><\/p>\n

Volunteers have been busy creating an exhibit that will engage every visitor as we explore the history of St Johns from 1860 to 1999. Tons of artifacts; photographs and print from books and newspapers will give our visitors a glimpse of what life in St Johns was like during those 140 years or so.<\/p>\n

The Museum will open on Wednesday, May17 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.<\/p>\n

2023 hours will be Wednesdays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.<\/p>\n

Department of Waste Management seeks public comment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clinton County Department of Waste Management is offering a resolution for public comment through Friday, July 14, 2023. Granger has requested two amendments to the Clinton County Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). The requests include 1) one additional county to the SWMP for waste import and export and 2) amend the total area sited for use at the Grand River Avenue landfill located at 8550 West Grand River Highway, Grand Ledge, Michigan.<\/p>\n

Copies of this resolution will be made available on the Clinton County Department of Waste Management website<\/span><\/a>, through the Clinton County Department of Waste Management office, through the Clinton County Clerk\u2019s office and is being made available to all local municipalities for review and comment.<\/p>\n

Comments should be submitted to Clinton County Department of Waste Management through email recycle@clinton-county.org<\/span><\/a> or written mail 100 East State Street, Suite 1500, St Johns, MI 48879 BEFORE Friday July 14th at 5:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

A public hearing to review all public comments has been set for Tuesday, July 25th at 6:00 p.m. to be held at the Clinton County Courthouse in the Board of Commissioners Room.<\/p>\n
