We will see you there.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Iler to speak at unveiling of his latest statue August 10<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Allen Neighborhood Center, as well as the Neighborhood Leader for Prospect Place Neighborhood in Lansing, would like to invite you to their Summer Art Celebration on Thursday, August 10th from 4:30-7:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, August 10 the beautiful large Mother Tree Statue designed by local artist Ivan Iler will be unveiled. This gorgeous piece of art will continue the work of transforming Kalamazoo Street and Hunter Park into even more beautiful places that reflect the community\u2019s diversity and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers have already added colorful bike rack designs and three decorated bus stops, and we have plans to paint artistic crosswalks on the street. The main purpose of this event is to bring the Eastside community together in celebration, so they are also providing free food from four delicious Eastside restaurants \u2014 Smokeshow BBQ, Teffrific, Hong Kong, and G3Food4All.<\/p>\n<p>The Art Celebration will take place at Hunter Park , 1400 E Kalamazoo St, in Lansing. The event itself will be near the pavilion near the intersection of Clifford and Marcus.<\/p>\n<p>Tentative Run of Show:<\/p>\n<p>4:30 PM: Emcee (Ethan Schmitt) opens event<br \/>\n4:35 PM: Mayor Andy Schor speaks<br \/>\n4:45 PM: Councilmember Ryan Kost speaks<br \/>\n4:55 PM: Yasmina Bouraoui (the neighborhood leader who wrote the grant) speaks<br \/>\n5:00 PM: Joe Enerson (Executive Director of Allen Neighborhood Center) speaks<br \/>\n5:05 PM: Ivan Iler (the one who built the statue) speaks and unveils statue<br \/>\n5:10 PM: The attendees are invited and encouraged to enjoy the free food that provided from Smokeshow BBQ, Hong Kong Restaurant, G3Food4All, and Teffrific.<\/p>\n<p>They will also have many yard games and be encouraging everyone to come together in community.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>St. Johns losing a young police officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many were sad to hear that the City of St. Johns Police Department is loosing another great young officer.<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes Officer Ryan Collier. Thanks for your service to our community.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Update on Eagle Twp Supervisor Patti Schafer\u2019s recall<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Judge Barkman, of the 29th Circuit Court for Clinton County, issued her ruling on Supervisor Schafer\u2019s appeal of the approval of the recall petition language.<\/p>\n<p>The Opinion and Order was 5 pages, addressing each argument of the appeal, but ultimately the conclusion read:<br \/>\n\u201cTherefore for the reason stated in the above Opinion, upon de novo review, this Court will uphold the decision of the Commission to approve the recall language submitted in support of recalling Schafer. Therefore, Schafer\u2019s request for relief is denied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is a step in the right direction for the residents of Eagle Township who hope to elect someone else who will represent their voices.<\/p>\n<p>Signatures for the petition have already been turned in and validated by the township.
