In partnership with The Voice for Clinton County\u2019s Children and Toys for Tots, the Blue Buses ensure transportation is not an obstacle. According to Top Elves, this year\u2019s collaboration has already helped deliver joy to more than a thousand children throughout Clinton County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe truly enjoy and seek out ways we can be helpful to our community,\u201d shares Clinton Transit Executive Director MaLissa Schutt. \u201cWhether that\u2019s a ride to pick up a child\u2019s Christmas gift, connecting residents with friends and family, or helping to usher Santa into town for the St. Johns Festival of Lights, we are here to serve Clinton County\u2019s mobility needs in a variety of ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simple and accessible, Clinton Transit provides safe, cozy curb-to-curb rides throughout Clinton County and beyond. Riders can easily manage their transportation schedule anytime using the Clinton Transit app available in the App Store and Google Play, or by calling the dispatch office at 989.224.8127, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>For those who would like to give the gift of mobility this season, Blue Bus gift certificates are available for purchase in any amount at Clinton Transit, 215 North Scott Road in St. Johns or by calling the dispatch office.<\/p>\n<p>For holiday travelers, Clinton Transit regularly provides easy, cost-conscious, and safe transportation to and from Lansing\u2019s Capital Region International Airport and East Lansing\u2019s Greyhound and Amtrak stations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur friendly, local drivers pick up residents and provide transportation right to their departure spot. Travelers appreciate not having to dig out their vehicle if it snows, drag their luggage through the elements, or pay for parking,\u201d explains Schutt. \u201cWe just ask travelers to schedule their rides as far in advance as possible so we can plan accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton Transit\u2019s regular one-way fare to the Lansing airport is $3. A discounted fare of $1.50 applies to seniors 60 and older, all persons with an ADA-defined disability, and youth under the age of 18. Military veterans always ride free. Graham Filler this week recognized two employees at <a href=\"https:\/\/thesafecenter.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SafeCenter<\/a> in St. Johns for their work at the organization which provides shelter and support for victims of domestic and sexual abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Filler presented Angie Rowles, left, and Brandi Ziegler, right, with state tributes recognizing their dedication to helping others.<\/p>\n<p>As Shelter Services and Facilities Manager, Rowles guided the facility through the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the health and safety of both staff and survivors in the height of the virus and statewide restrictions. He completed his internship at Carson City Hospital in Michigan and is a Board Certified Family Practitioner. Dr. Andersen has been caring for patients in the St. Johns area since 1975.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Briggs hosts indoor arts and crafts market January 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Briggs District Library is hosting an indoor arts and crafts market showcasing the hard work of talented youth under 19.<\/p>\n<p>Mark your calendars for January 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to support the amazing youth of this community. Youth will be selling their creations and you have the opportunity to help support their aspirations.There will also be homemade baked goods. Her professional career includes serving as an elementary school teacher in Owosso and St. Johns, an elementary school counselor in St. Johns and DeWitt, and then most recently the principal at Schavey Road Elementary in DeWitt since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>As an elementary principal, Emily led all day-to-day operations of a building with approximately 500 students and 50 staff, planned and facilitated professional learning for instructional and non-instructional staff, and led building teams in the development and implementation of high-quality programs and systems to support student learning. She was also a member of multiple district teams that supported school improvement and strategic planning.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Alzheimer&#8217;s Caregivers to meet January 8<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Alzheimer&#8217;s Disease Caregivers Support Group will be meeting on Monday, January 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Clinton County Senior Center in St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with questions or concerns about Alzheimer&#8217;s are welcome to attend.
