Vacant position on St. Johns Public Schools Board of Education<\/strong><\/p>\n

St. Johns Public Schools is seeking a citizen to be appointed to the Board of Education. The vacant position is to complete a term ending in December 2020.<\/p>\n

Prospective candidates must be registered to vote and reside within the school district boundaries. Interested parties should submit a letter of interest to the Office of the Superintendent on or before November 30, 2018 at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

Toys for Tots Campaign Underway<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Marine Corp Toys for Tots campaign has begun in Clinton County. The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, which is the sponsoring organization for Toys for Tots in Clinton County has delivered collection boxes to businesses throughout the county that will collect toys through Monday, December 17 for Clinton County children.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the popular toys requested by younger kids this year: Slime Kits, Paw Patrol, Legos (boys and girls), PJ Mask toys, Shopkins, Disney and Elmo Dolls, Fingerlings and Dinosaurs. For the older kids ideas include Art supplies, craft kits (to make jewelry or fleece for pillows and throws, etc), CDs, DVDs, books and Gift Cards.<\/p>\n

If you place a toy in one of these boxes you can be assured the item will go to a child that lives in Clinton County:

Ladies Advent Dessert Tea is November 30<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wilson Center gym to become Nerf battle field November 30<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department November 30th as they turn the Wilson Center gym into a Nerf battle field. Children will be participating in many different nerf based games. Each child will be given 10 bullets to start, bullets can be collected as the battles continues. Teams will be made up onsite with children present.<\/p>\n

This event is for children in the 3rd through 12th grade. Students 3rd through 5th grade will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm; Middle School aged students will take place 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.; High school aged students will take place from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Each child must bring their own eye protection and nerf gun, of any size. The City will provide the bullets. Games will begin promptly at times published, so please arrive early enough to get checked in and the proper paperwork filled out. The cost to participate in this activity is $5 per participant.<\/p>\n

Leonard announces December office hours<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaker of the House Tom Leonard, R-DeWitt, will host office hours to meet with local residents and discuss their concerns about state government. Speaker Leonard represents Michigan\u2019s 93rd District.<\/p>\n

A coffee hour will take place on Friday, December 14, 8:00 a.m. \u2013 9:30 a.m. at Big Boy, 1408 Old U.S. 27, St. Johns, MI.<\/p>\n

Local residents are encouraged to bring comments, questions and concerns about local government and anything else happening in the local community.
