Prizes given.<\/p>\n<p>The church is located at 5485 W Lowe Rd., St. Johns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Donate art supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/promise.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"276\" height=\"155\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3332\" \/><\/p>\n<p> Art therapy is a creative method of expression used as a therapeutic technique. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehouseofpromise.com\/about.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">The House of Promise<\/font><\/a> has developed a plan to help survivors of human sex trafficking. The girls are in need of canvas, paint, brushes, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Please help them through this process by dropped off your extra items at the Art Gallery of the Clinton County Arts Council.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Arts Council needs volunteers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Clinton County Arts Council would love for you to join them at the Art Gallery over the next couple months. Several of their volunteers will be out of state and unavailable for various reasons.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a couple free hours to assist, please contact Debi at 989-224-2429. They have shifts to fit any schedule.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Briggs District Library News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Progressive Euchre Tournament<\/em> &#8211; The library will be hosting a progressive euchre tournament on Friday, January 25 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This will be a fun, Free, social event, with no buy-in or cost to play. Players will earn points each round, and at the end of the night, the player with the most points will win a prize. The player who scores the least amount of points throughout the night will also win a &#8220;prize.&#8221; You can register for this event as partners or as an individual. Registered partners will play together the first round, but new partnerships will be formed in each round thereafter. Registration is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Read with the Animals<\/em> &#8211; Representatives from Potter Park Zoo will bring a few small animals to the library, and read some stories that feature those animals. This free family program will take place on Saturday, February 2, from 1:00-2:00pm. Registration is appreciated, and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/eicher.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"396\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3335\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Orphan Train in Michigan<\/em> &#8211; Michigan historians Al and Dave Eicher will be at the library to share their presentation on the Orphan Train, and the riders who ended up in Michigan. This interesting piece of Michigan history will be discussed on Tuesday, February 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. No library card is needed for this free program, but advance registration is appreciated, and is now open.<\/p>\n<p><em>Impression 5 Maker Program<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 7-12 can join us on Tuesday, February 12 from 6:30-7:30 when we&#8217;ll learn about circuits and make some special projects. This program will be led by staff from Impression 5 Science Center. Space is limited. Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, January 15.<\/p>\n<p><em>Seed Swap<\/em> &#8211; Abigail Harper from MSU Extension will be here on Monday, February 18 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to discuss seed saving from your home flower or vegetable garden. Participants are encouraged to bring seeds they have harvested to share with others. Registration is appreciated and begins Monday, January 21.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chef&#8217;s Surprise<\/em> &#8211; Budding chefs ages 7-10 can join us Tuesday, February 19th, 6:00- 7:30 when we will learn to make some delicious sweets. Registration is required for this program and begins Tuesday, January 22.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chapter Chatter Presents<\/em> &#8220;Readers Theater&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;The 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf&#8221; and &#8220;Goldilocks and the 3 Bears&#8221; Independent listeners ages 6 &#8211; 8 are invited to join us in creating and presenting 2 productions. Children will make\/gather, props\/costumes for both stories and present both productions to family and friends at the last session of Chapter Chatter. Sessions are on Thursday evenings, 7-7:45pm, February 21st &#8211; March 14. Registration is required and opens on Thursday, January 24.<\/p>\n<p><em>Adult Computer Class<\/em> &#8211; The library will be offering a two-week beginner&#8217;s computer class that will cover the basics &#8211; the parts of a computer, using a mouse and keyboard, and using the Internet. The class will be held on Monday, January 14 and Monday, January 21 from 10:30-noon. Registration for this free program is available by calling the library.<\/p>\n<p><em>Bookaholics Book Club<\/em> &#8211; There is still time to read the January selection of the Bookaholics Book Club &#8211; The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. In this memoir, Walls discusses her family&#8217;s nomadic upbringing, during which she and her siblings fended for themselves while their parents outmaneuvered bill collectors and the authorities. The club will meet Thursday, January 17 at 6:30pm at the library. New members are always welcome.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lapsit Storytime<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 12 &#8211; 24 months with adult participation are invited to join us for age appropriate stories, music, creative movement and simple sign language. Choose Friday mornings, 10:30 &#8211; 11 from February 15- March 22 or Monday evenings, 6:30-7 from February 18 &#8211; March 25. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to socialize with each other. Registration is required and begins Friday, January 18.<\/p>\n<p><em>Friendship Yoga<\/em> &#8211; Sign up to share the story &#8220;Yoga Friends: a pose-by-pose partner adventure for kids by Mariam and Rolf Gates. We will introduce children (ages 7 &#8211; 9) to the delights and benefits of partner yoga. We will learn how cooperation helps us to imagine, move and have fun in a whole new way. The program will be on Monday, February 4, 6:30 to 7:30. Registration is required and open now. Yoga mats will be provided.<\/p>\n<p><em>Toddler Storytime<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 2-3 (with a participating adult) are invited to join us on Wednesday mornings, 10:30-11:00, February 6- February 27 where we will read stories, move to the music, and explore our imagination with crafts. Registration is required and begins Wednesday, January 9.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tales to Tails<\/em> &#8211; 15 minute sessions for children ages 6-12 to practice reading aloud to Ruger, a certified therapy dog. Ruger will be at the library the following Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30: 1\/10 and 1\/24, 2\/14 and 2\/28, 3\/14 and 3\/28, 4\/11 and 4\/25, 5\/9 and 5\/23.
