The evening will include all the elements of the Seder: singing, story-telling, praying, and eating. A full dinner will be served along with the elements of the ceremonial meal. Children are most welcome and part of the service.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Museum wants your Soap Box Derby photos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Clinton County Historical Museum, located just west of the courthouse, is looking for photos and documents relating to the Soap Box Derby that was held in St. Johns in the 1960s and 70s.<\/p>\n<p>They will have a year long display celebrating the return of the Soap Box Derby to St. Johns and would like to use your photo in the display. They can scan your photos so you can keep the originals.<\/p>\n<p>They are also in need of vintage photos or other artifacts relating to police, sheriff, and fire departments in Clinton County to use in our featured exhibit this year. Amazingly, 300+ of those panes of glass remain but most of the people are still unidentified. That&#8217;s where archivests need your help.<\/p>\n<p>There is now a webpage showing you these faces with hope that you know someone. There is an email address link for you to tell them the name and how you know them.<\/p>\n<p>Any and all information is welcome. <a href=\"http:\/\/clinton.migenweb.org\/CCHS\/GlassNegatives\/MAINPAGE.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">clinton.migenweb.org\/CCHS\/GlassNegatives\/MAINPAGE.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We all love a good mystery and it would be wonderful to be able to put a name to the face in the glass.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The Easter Bunny is coming April 20<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The annual City of St. Johns Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the St. Johns Lioness Club and many local contributors, will be held Saturday, April 20 at the St. Johns City Park.<\/p>\n<p>A police siren will sound at 1:00 p.m. to start the &#8220;organized mayhem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Age groups are: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10. Children under age 3 may pick up their eggs and toys at the pavilion. Some eggs in the patch have special prize tickets; bring these to the pavilion to receive your prize.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be live bunnies, crafts, balloons, face painting and visits with the Easter Bunny. Included in the day will be refreshments, games, and a craft.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Briggs District Library News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Genealogy Presentation<\/em> &#8211; Author and researcher Richard Hill will offer two presentations at the library on Saturday, May 4 from 1:00-3:00. The first presentation will cover Richard&#8217;s own story of using DNA testing to solve genealogical mysteries, and the second goes into DNA testing with greater detail and provides tips and additional resources for conducting your own research. No library card is required to attend this free presentation, though advance registration is appreciated.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sharpie Art<\/em> &#8211; The library is offering a free adult crafting program on Monday, April 22, from 6:30-7:45 p.m. During this program we will use permanent markers and rubbing alcohol to make one-of-a-kind ceramic tile projects. All supplies are provided, and will be available throughout the program, but participants are free to leave once their projects are complete. Registration is required and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mid-Michigan Chamber Orchestra<\/em> &#8211; The library will be hosting a special musical performance on Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. when the Mid-Michigan Chamber Orchestra stops by for a free, interactive concert. This is an all-ages family performance, where children are welcome to dance, play, sing along, and make some noise with these fabulous musicians. No library card is needed to attend this free event, but advance registration is appreciated.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Deconstruction&#8221; Maker Electronics Program<\/em> &#8211; (age 8 to 12) Let&#8217;s take apart and find out what is inside various electronics (monitors, keyboards, VHS re-winder, etc.) by using tools, gloves and safety glasses that we will provide. Join us on our investigation of what is under the covers on Tuesday, April 16th, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Bonus: we have a few items for a show and tell that have kids guessing\u2026what is it? how were they used? and what took their places in our current lives? Registration is required and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Zoo in Your Neighborhood<\/em> &#8211; Potter Park Zoo will be returning to Briggs Library for a Live Animal Presentation on Tuesday, April 23, from 6:30-7:30pm. This event is free and open to the public. No library card is required, but advance registration is appreciated, and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fresh Food Fairy<\/em> &#8211; Join us for an exciting presentation that will involve eating, touching, smelling, and creating faces out of veggies. The goal being to expose kids to the different types of vegetables out there and to get them excited about all the possibilities of fresh food. Also, everyone will get a chance to take a ride on the bike blender and make some delicious samples of smoothies and slushies. This is a family program geared toward Preschool-5th graders. This event will be taking place on Monday, April 29th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Registration is required.<\/p>\n<p><em>Play-Doh Play Time<\/em> &#8211; Plenty of creative fun to be had on Monday, April 15, 6:30-7:30 pm. Registration is appreciated and is open now. *Note: this program will be held at Lowe United Methodist Church, 5484 W. Lowe Rd., St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p><em>Bookaholics Book Club<\/em> &#8211; Our &#8220;Books and Films&#8221; theme continues in April when we will read Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. Copies of the book are now available. The club meets Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 in the bay window seating area of the library.<\/p>\n<p>Euchre Club &#8211; This is a fun, free, social club, with no buy-in or cost to play. Seating is limited, so advance registration is required, and you can register as an individual or as partners. We play round robin-style, so registered partners will play together the first round, but new partnerships will be formed in each round thereafter. Our next meeting is Friday, April 26 from 6:00-9:00.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mother&#8217;s Day Program<\/em> &#8211; Mothers, Grandmothers and children ages 3 and up are invited to join us on Tuesday, May 7th, 7:00-to 8:00 p.m. for musical entertainment: Erin Searles will be showing us an Erhu. The erhu is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument, more specifically a spike fiddle, which may also be called a Southern Fiddle, and sometimes known in the Western world as the Chinese violin or a Chinese two-stringed fiddle. Face Painting by Sharon, stories, light refreshments, and a simple craft will also be presented for all to enjoy. Registration is required.<\/p>\n<p><em>Toddler Storytime<\/em> &#8211; Calling all super entomologists! Children ages 2-3 (with a participating adult) are invited to join us on Wednesday mornings, 10:30-11:00, May 8th- May 29th where we will read stories, move to the music, and explore our imagination with crafts all while learning about insects.
