Colony Road north of St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p>We are in a critical need for blood products to make sure we can meet the demand from our patients in our local hospitals. Continental breakfast, 18 holes with cart, luncheon, raffles, prizes are all included for only a $70 entry fee.<\/p>\n<p>They are looking for golfers and sponsors to make this outing a success. The money raised helps pay for equipment, uniforms, transportation and much more. Area 28 wants to reach out and include as many children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Special Olympics as possible. Courtney teaches art at Fulton Schools for all grade levels.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clintoncountyarts.org\/summer-kids-art-camp.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">http:\/\/www.clintoncountyarts.org\/summer-kids-art-camp.html<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Stepped up seat belt enforcement begins Monday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) is encouraging seat belt use during the annual <em>Click It or Ticket<\/em> campaign, May 20-June 2.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning Monday, law enforcement officers from police departments, sheriff\u2019s offices and the Michigan State Police will conduct stepped up seat belt enforcement throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>Last Memorial Day weekend, 19 people in Michigan died in traffic crashes. In 2018, 192 people who died in traffic crashes in Michigan were not wearing a seat belt. Research shows when seat belts are used properly, the risk of being killed in a crash is reduced by 45 percent.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Briggs District Library News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/library.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4060\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Hands on Creative Fun, Fingerprint Art<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 7 -10 are invited to participate in fingerprint art on Thursday, May 30th, 6:30-7:30pm. We will have an assortment of colored of ink pads, jewels, and glitter to make several projects for them to take home for themselves or to give away to friends and family. There will be various bookmarks, frames, canvas and more to create masterpieces that are unique to each child. Registration is required and open now.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cartoons and Crafts<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 8-12 can join us on Thursday, June 6 when we&#8217;ll watch an episode of The Jetsons, and then complete a small craft. Registration is required and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Summer Kick-Off Event!<\/em> &#8211; We will kick-off the summer and our Summer Reading Program with a bounce house and other inflatables, Face Painting by Sharon, our giant chess and checkers set, plinko and other fun lawn games, and a special visit from Pete the Cat! Monday, June 10 from 4:30-7:30, at the Rotary Park across the street from the library. No registration or library card is needed for this free family program!<\/p>\n<p><em>Family Movie Fridays<\/em> &#8211; Free movies for the family to enjoy, each Friday, June 14-July 26 (no movie on Friday, July 5). Registration is appreciated, and begins Friday, May 24.<\/p>\n<p><em>101 Things That Happened on the Mackinac Bridge<\/em> &#8211; Mike Fornes is returning to the library to share stories of the history of the Mackinac Bridge. No library card is needed to attend this free program, but registration is appreciated, and begins Monday, May 20.<\/p>\n<p><em>Briggsflix<\/em> &#8211; This summer we&#8217;ll be showing space-themed movies for adults and teens. First up on Wednesday, June 19 is the Mel Brooks comedy, Spaceballs. The show starts at 6:30. Registration is required, and begins Wednesday, May 22.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chef&#8217;s Surprise<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 8-12 can join us on Tuesday, May 21, from 6:00-7:30pm for a night of experimentation where we will explore the differences between baking with fire and baking with a toaster oven. Registration for this program is required and is open now.<\/p>\n<p><em>Garden Buddies<\/em>&#8211; Explore and grow with us in the Rae Johnson&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Garden. We&#8217;ll learn about what it takes to grow the food we love to eat. Children ages 7-12 are invited to join us on Tuesday evenings, June 11th-July 2nd, 5:00-6:30 for a night of digging in the dirt. Registration is required for this program and is open now.<\/p>\n<p><em>Exercise Extravaganza<\/em> &#8211; Try out different ways to get your body moving this summer. Children ages 7-11 are invited to join us on Wednesday afternoons, 2:30-3:15 for a chance to experience 5 different energizing exercises. This 6-week series will run from June 19th-July 31st (no session on July 3rd) and participants will be able to sign up for them all or choose what days they want. Sessions will include Cardio Drumming on June 19th, Yoga on June 26th, Go Noodle on July 10th, Karate on July 17th, Obstacle Course on July 24th, and a Bonus Round on July 31st.
