Bates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/bates_charles.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4851\" \/>Charles E. Bates, age 77 of St. Johns, MI passed away at Grace Haven Assisted Living Center on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.  He was born on September 24, 1941 in Brady, MI the son of Charles and Lilian (Louth) Bates. Charlie graduated from Ovid High School in 1959 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  On August 7, 1965 he married Jean M. Nemcik in Bannister, MI.  He had worked as a die maker for General Motors and had retired in 2003.  Charlie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Johns American Legion, and he loved hunting and fishing.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors are his wife Jean, children, Brian (Julie) Bates of Livonia, Lori (Richard) Noechel of Okemos and Bruce (Melissa) Bates of Black Creek, WI;  grandchildren Jenna, Lauren and Brandon Bates, Nicole, Richard and Elizabeth Noechel and sister, Beverly (Lee) Bolton of Ovid.  He was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Moore and brothers Robert and Bill Bates.<\/p>\n<p>The family will receive friends and relatives at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a> on Monday, June 17, 2019, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:30 P.M.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Tom Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery, Elsie.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Care Team Hospice, 5401 Gateway Center, Suite D, Flint, MI 48507.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Paul Wayne Hunt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/hunt_wayne.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4797\" \/>Paul Wayne Hunt, 78 of rural Ovid passed away at Sparrow Hospital on June 10, 2019.  Paul was born on January 12, 1941 in St. Johns, MI the son of Paul Henry and Marion Fern (Hainer) Hunt.  He graduated from St. Johns High School in 1960 and had served in the U.S. Army.  Paul retired from Federal Mogul in St. Johns after working on the strip line. On November 2, 1963 he married Diana C. Hubel.  Paul loved doing woodworking, metal sculpting, hunting, fishing, camping in the UP and especially loved garage sales up north.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife, Diana and son Steve of Monroe as well as a sister Daisy Anglin of Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The family will receive friends and relatives at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a> on Friday, June 14, 2019, 5-7 P.M.  and on Saturday 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 A.M.  Pastor Tom Wilson will officiate.  Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Virginia Ione Dietrich<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/dietrich_virginia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4793\" \/>Virginia Ione Dietrich passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at the age of 83.<\/p>\n<p>She was born October 23, 1935 in Lansing, Michigan. Virginia was a member of First Congregational Church of St. Johns and worked as a clerical assistant at the Bement Public Library for over 30 years. On January 1, 1955 she married Kenneth Jack Dietrich and he preceded her in death in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving is one daughter, Caren (Tom) Tucker of Florida; two sons, Steve of East Lansing and Jeff (Linda) of St. Johns; two Granddaughters, Jessica Tucker and Mallorie (Darren) Revels and Great-Grandson Josiah Revels all of Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia loved word puzzle games and completing crosswords in her spare time as well as being unbeatable at the board game Scrabble. She also enjoyed sitting amongst their flower gardens at home with her husband. She and \u201cJack\u201d loved day trips all over Michigan, once Jack retired from GM as a tool and die maker in 1992, taking their beloved Australian Shepard \u201cPeaches\u201d with them every trip! Virginia\u2019s children meant everything to her and she always spoke of their accomplishments and families to everyone she knew.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family was assisted with these arrangements by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a>, St. Johns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Diane Kay Eiseler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/eiseler_diane.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4790\" \/>Diane Kay Eiseler, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 7 in St. Johns. She was born on May 20, 1948 in St. Johns, the daughter of Rodney and Doris (Spade) Eiseler.<\/p>\n<p>In April of 1970 she married William LaPeer and he remained a special companion in spending time with their children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>She worked at the Clinton County Courthouse for many years. In her retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their events, walking her dog, taking care of her yard, shopping and spending time with her friends. She was a very caring woman and a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary; special cousins Sandy Rhines, Pam Rhines and Kathy Karlson. She is survived by her children Shannon (Barry) Kiel, Angela (Michael) Burgess, brother William (Marge) Eiseler, all of St. Johns, sister-in-law Sue Eiseler of Clare, grandchildren Brendan Kiel, Kyleigh Langdon, Olivia Langdon, Morgan LoDico, Aubrey Kiel, Evan Kiel and Jessi Burgess; cousins Linda Myers and Kelly (Mark) Albers; and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>A visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a>. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. A reception lunch will follow Mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Johns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Doris Jane Swatman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/swatman_doris.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4784\" \/>Doris Jane Swatman, 95, died on June 7, 2019. She was born on June 12, 1923 in St. Johns, MI.  She was the 4th daughter born to Harry and Dorothy (Hall) Heathman.  Later two brothers completed their family. Doris lived her entire life in St. Johns staying actively involved with her family and friends.  Doris grew up in a home where her mother was a homemaker and her father owned Heathman\u2019s Paint and Wallpaper on Main Street.  Family time for the Heathman\u2019s included picnics, homemade ice cream, baseball games, croquet, and card games.  Saturday night her father would pop popcorn and he\u2019d make cones from newspapers to hold it.  The house was full of activity and there was always someone to do things with.  They didn\u2019t have much but they never realized it because they were happy with each other.<\/p>\n<p>Doris attended Rodney B. Wilson High School and graduated with the Class of 1942.  During high school she met her future husband, Forrest Swatman at Christian Endeavor through the Congregational Church.<\/p>\n<p>Her first job was for Ferd Gressley working in his bakery on Main Street.  She also worked at the D &#038; C Dime Store and later worked in the wallpaper section at Heathman\u2019s Paint and Wallpaper while waiting for Forrest to return home from the service.  Forrest and Doris were married on December 2nd, 1945.  She continued to work at Heathman\u2019s until their children, Brian and Lexa were born.  During these years she helped at Swatman\u2019s Standard Service as the bookkeeper.  Together with Forrest, they built their first home and raised their family on Prospect Street.  Doris was the heart of the family making everything special.  She was a wonderful cook who could always feed whoever or how many, showed up at her door.  Everyone felt welcome.  In later years when the kids were in college, she worked for Ben Franklin until she quit to spend time with her grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Doris was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Johns.  She belonged to the Vesper and Congregators groups.  She taught Sunday School to preschoolers for many years as well as headed up the dinners the church provided after funerals.  She volunteered for 17 years for the Gray Ladies and Red Cross at Clinton Memorial Hospital.  She delivered mail, lunches and was instrumental in starting a library cart for the patient\u2019s enjoyment.  She was one of the original volunteers at Hazel Findlay Country Manor when it opened, and has volunteered there ever since.  She was chosen volunteer of the year in 2003, 2009 and again in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>As a volunteer she helped make a quilt to be auctioned every year.  The funds earned from these quilts helped provide Hazel Findlay with many wonderful items.  They were able to purchase the covered entrance, build a pavilion in the court yard, purchase Geri chairs and wheel chairs, a stove for cooking class, a prayer room, TV\u2019s and alarms and currently she was in the process of working toward getting music and movies for the residents.  She held every office in the volunteer organization at least twice. She spent every Friday running Bingo with the residents for many years and provided support where ever was needed.  Doris often said that God made her a volunteer.<\/p>\n<p>She loved doing things for others.  She spent her life taking care of others.  She cared for Forrest\u2019s parents as well as her own in their later years.  She often made daily trips to Hazel Findlay to visit her sisters and friends and loved ones.  Her hobbies included golf, playing bridge, painting, reading and was still dancing at 95, as well as being with her family and friends.  You could find Doris and Forrest enjoying daily walks around St. Johns often walking two miles each day for exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Doris was married to Forrest for 73 years.  He survives her.  Also surviving is her son, Brian (Linda) Swatman of Owosso, her daughter Lexa (John) O\u2019Brien of Chelsea;  three grandchildren, Chad (Shannon) Swatman of Corunna, Bekah (Jason) Lantis of Saline and Matthew (Jenny) Knight of Canonsburg, PA.;  three step grandchildren, Erin, Shannon and Kelly O\u2019Brien, and 4 great grandchildren, Devin Swatman-Stewart, Rachel and Tyler Swatman, Kalle and Jack Kargel and Joshua, Drew and Benjamin Knight.  Also surviving is one brother, Roger (Jean) Heathman of Dansville. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Spud Heathman, sisters, Evelyn Buck, Vianna Bond and Fritz Thurston, grandson Devin Swatman and grandson-in-law, Andrew Kargel.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services will be held at First Congregational Church on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Matt Olson officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church or Hazel Findlay County Manor.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Alick Harold Feldpausch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/feldpausch_alick.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4785\" \/>Alick Harold Feldpausch, age 81 of Fowler, MI, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at his home.<\/p>\n<p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 10:30 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Leon Martin as celebrant and Rev. Fr. Darrel Kempf as co-celebrant.  Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 &#038; 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes &#8211; Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.<\/p>\n<p>Alick was born in Fowler, MI on December 1, 1937 the son of Sylvester and Odelia (Lenneman) Feldpausch.  He graduated from Fowler High School with the class of 1956.  Alick married Fay Crowell on October 5, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns.  Alick resided all of his life in Fowler.<\/p>\n<p>Alick was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting trips with his family and friends. He liked tinkering and could fix anything.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.  Alick served his country in the Army National Guard for 8 years. He was a lifelong member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Alick also was a member of the HUB Antique Car Club.  He will always be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to help others.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife Fay Feldpausch of Fowler, MI; children: Arlene and Tim Jandernoa of Fowler, MI; Emily and Michael Kloss of Harbor Springs, MI; Darrin Feldpausch of Fowler, MI; grandchildren:  Nick and Maria Jandernoa, Alisha and Giorgio Webster, Matt Jandernoa and Liz Kramer, Jacob and Maggie Kloss, Scott and Michelle Kloss, Ben and Kelli Kloss, and Jeremy Kloss; great grandchildren: Lyla, Henry, Giorgia, Oliver and Kyler; siblings: Donald and Joann Feldpausch, MaryJane and Ken Fedewa, Claude and Cecile Feldpausch, Alvin and Janice Feldpausch, Ronald and Lois Feldpausch, Edward and Mary Feldpausch, Neil and Rosie Feldpausch, Betty and Bill Wirth, Larry and Reggie Feldpausch, Helen and Chuck Smith, Irene and Bruce Pline, Eugene and Kathy Feldpausch; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
