Showtime is 7 p.m. at the William E. Tennant Performance Shell in the St. Johns City Park; no admission.

The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic is comprised of high school students performing music, song and dance in a fusion of folk, bluegrass, mountain music, western swing, Celtic, jazz, pop and American classics. The group’s spirited vocals and Appalachian step dancing combine with the instrumentals to create an unforgettable live performance.

The group was formed in 1994 with the aim of introducing an alternative style of music education to public school students to maintain and expand their interest in music performance. It has logged more than 1,500 performances across the United States including the White House Stage at the Kennedy Center and the State of Michigan’s Presidential Inaugural Ball. Annual summer tours span the United States along with performances in Canada and Europe that have included visits to Saline’s sister cities of Brecon, Wales and Lindenberg, Germany. The group performs 50-60 times each year, generally donating a third of its annual schedule to community service events.

Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic is supported by countless hours of volunteer labor, student tuition, sales of recordings, fees for performing, and donations from its many dedicated fans. It holds an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable designation. For detailed information visit http://salinefiddlers.com/

Concert in the Park is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the City of St. Johns with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
