Come to the Clinton Northern Railway Museum, 107 E. Railroad Street in downtown St. Johns between 1 and 3 PM.

You will have the chance to feel what the old railroad tools felt like – which was very heavy! Some of those tools from 100 years ago are still made today because the design was just right for the task.

No matter what your age is, you are welcome to try out the tools, as long as you pay close attention to the directions. We don’t want anybody hurting himself or somebody else with a heavy iron piece of equipment.

Many of the tools were and are used for laying the track or repairing it, which means that the tools had to be super strong to get the job done.

Don’t worry; you don’t have to work with the tools. You can choose to take a tour of the old rail cars on the tracks, the model railroad and the museum in the depot, and cheer on the people who are working with the tools. We hope to see you there!

Due to road construction in that area, the only way to enter the Depot parking lot is by driving north on Spring Street from M-21. Spring street is clear down to Railroad St.; just swing right around the barricade then left into the parking lot. Whew!

Clinton Northern Railway Museum is part of the Clinton County Arts Council, which traditionally gets some of its funding from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Mint City Garden Club to meet September 5

The monthly meeting of Mint City Garden Club will be held Thursday, September 5 at 7:15 p.m.

Sister Lucille Janowiak,P.O. will be speaking about urban prairie habitats.

Meetings are held at Clinton Commons Community Center, 1105 S.
