If you do experience discoloration, let your water run and it should clear up quickly.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions or concerns, please contact the St. Johns Water Department at (989) 224-8944, ext. 235.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Halloween Costume Collection has begun<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Voice for Clinton County&#8217;s Children will be collecting Halloween Costumes (new or gently used) through October 18.<\/p>\n<p>Costumes will be available for children who are in foster care, children who have been in foster care, and children we serve through our Child Advocacy Center.<\/p>\n<p>Please drop off all costumes to our CASA Office located at 306 E. Elm Street in St. Johns (building neighbors include Dr. Rajesh and Sparrow Medical Supply).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Plan ahead for Halloween<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s never too early to start planning for Halloween fun.<\/p>\n<p>The City of St. Johns Trick or Treating will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The fire whistle will sound when trick-or-treating begins and ends.<\/p>\n<p>The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce is also having their annual &#8220;An Event So Good It\u2019s Scary&#8221; on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. -5:30 p.m. This event is daytime trick-or-treating with local businesses in the City of St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p>Please visit or contact the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce to get a list of all the businesses participating and giving out candy during this event.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>K of C raffle and dinner coming up October 19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The annual Sportsman Raffle and Hog Roast and Turkey Fry sponsored by the local Knights of Columbus will be held on Saturday, October 19. The drawing will be held at 8:00 p.m. The Grand Knight&#8217;s drawing will be at 7:30 p.m. You need not be present to win.<\/p>\n<p>The dinner including roasted pork, fried turkey, baked beans, cole slaw, corn bread and ice cream from Dershey&#8217;s will take place from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Children 4 and under are free. For more information call 517-388-2005.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Helping Harvest Farm Relief is October 26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new non-profit Helping Harvest Farm Relief is holdingtheir first major fundraiser event on October 26 at Uncle John&#8217;s Cider Mill. The Halloween-themed car show will also feature a costume contest, trunk or treating, silent auction, face painting, pumpkin patch scavenger hunt, and pumpkin decorating along with all of the amazing activities that Uncle John&#8217;s offers.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle classes for just about everyone include tractors, farm trucks, everyday drivers, off road vehicles, best decorated, as well as more tradition car show classes. The registration fee is $20, or $10 if you bring candy to pass out to trunk or treaters.<\/p>\n<p><em>Helping Harvest Farm Relief helps primarily Michigan farmers during times of need as well as farmers in other states who are trying to recover from major natural disasters. They also strive to bring attention to the high suicide rates among farmers and those in the agriculture industry. This service includes how to spot suicide tendencies in others, and how to properly approach and help those individuals.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The Voice for Clinton County&#8217;s Children needs volunteers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Volunteer Help Wanted!<\/p>\n<p>The Voice for Clinton County&#8217;s Children is looking for volunteer support at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).<\/p>\n<p>Days\/times help is needed are Tuesdays between 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>All volunteers must complete an application process and background screening. Registration is required.<\/p>\n<p><em>When Hollywood Went to War<\/em> &#8211; Historians Al and Dave Eicher are coming back to the library with another fascinating presentation on Monday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. When Hollywood Went to War features the real life stories of nearly 90 celebrities who served in the U.S. military during World War II. No library card is needed to attend this free program, but advance registration is appreciated.<\/p>\n<p><em>It&#8217;s &#8220;SOCKTOBER&#8221; at the Library!<\/em> &#8211; Make a Difference! &#8211; Not everyone can open a drawer each morning and choose a little thing such as a pair of warm socks to start their day, but some of us can, and we want to share this soul warming experience with soles of those who cannot. One clothing item for those in need is new socks, but people very rarely ever donate new socks to the less fortunate. During the month of October, the Library will be collecting new socks for children and adults that will then be donated to local charities. Please join us in a simple and meaningful way to help families and friends who are in need this winter.<\/p>\n<p><em>PreReader Storytime<\/em> : &#8220;Funny Fantastic Fabulous Favorites&#8221; &#8211; (ages4,5,and 6, independent listeners) Stories will be read that will make the children laugh out loud! Stories about potatoes, underwear, piranhas, a standing cat, and other fun tales. Their will be games, like &#8220;Crash, Splash or Moo!&#8221;, crafts, and music to make it even extra fun. This funny storytime will be offered on Thursday evenings, 6:30-7 p.m., October 17 &#8211; November 21st (No Session on October 31) Registration is required. Join the funny, fantastic, fabulous fun!<\/p>\n<p><em>Bookaholics Book Club<\/em> &#8211; The Bookaholics will be reading Where&#8217;d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple for its October selection. This is a heart-warming, funny story of a loving mom who becomes compelled to reconnect with her creative passions after years of sacrificing herself for her family. Registration is very much appreciated, and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Garden Tuck-In<\/em> &#8211; Help us wrap up another season in the Rae Johnson Children&#8217;s Garden on Saturday, October 26 from 2:00-4:00p.m. by getting it ready for the winter and celebrating with food on the fire. Registration is required for this family event and begins on Saturday, September 28.<\/p>\n<p><em>Force and Motion<\/em> &#8211; The team from Impression 5 Science Museum will be at the library on Monday, October 28, from 6:30-7:30p.m. to guide us through an experiment all about force and motion. We will be creating a track for a marble and then use various materials to control its speed. This program is for children ages 8-12. Registration is required and begins on Monday, September 30.<\/p>\n<p><em>Halloween Cartoon and Craft<\/em> &#8211; During this spook-tastic hour on Tuesday, October 29, we&#8217;ll make a craft, munch on snacks, and watch a Halloween cartoon. This program is for children ages 6-9 and will run from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration for this program is required and is open now.<\/p>\n<p><em>Trick or Treat at the Library<\/em> &#8211; Join in the spirit of Halloween by visiting the library on Thursday, October 31! Come in your costume between 3-5 p.m. and select a treat for yourself. All ages welcome.<\/p>\n<p><em>Briggs Blend Of Fun <\/em>&#8211; Chapter Chatter and Chef Surprise &#8220;Together&#8221; &#8211; As a group (ages 6-8) we will enjoy a short chapter book and prepare a different recipe over the 4-week session. The 1st week we will make an appealing appetizer, 2nd week, a scrumptious salad, 3rd week an excellent entr\u00e9e, and the last week of course will be a delicious dessert. We will be making chocolates at OhMi Organics! The program is on Monday evenings, 7-7:45 p.m., November 4 thru November 25. Registration is required and opens on Monday, October 7. Limited to 12 registrations.<\/p>\n<p><em>Holiday Program Entertainment<\/em> &#8211; Children ages 7-12 can join us Tuesday evenings, November 5-26, from 7:00-7:45 to practice a cardio drumming routine that will be performed at the Holiday Program on Thursday, December 5. Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, October 8.<\/p>\n<p><em>One Last Chapter <\/em>&#8211; Come celebrate over 35 years of story time with Miss Marie! This fun- filled evening will include games, crafts, food, entertainment, and a few surprises. This is a family event taking place on Friday, November 8 from 3:00-9:30 p.m. Families are welcome the entire night or can pick and choose their activities. The class will take place on Monday, November 11, from 6:30-8:00 p.m., and will cover the basics of using Ancestry Library Edition. No library card is needed to attend, but advance registration is appreciated, and is now available.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tales to Tails<\/em> &#8211; Ruger, a certified therapy dog will be back at the library this fall! Children ages 6-12 can sign up for a 15-minute session to practice reading aloud to Ruger on the 2nd or 4th Thursday of each month.
