Churches<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/churches_larry.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6005\" \/>Larry J. Churches died Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 83. He was born August 29, 1936 in Bingham Township, MI the son of Lorenzo and Ione (Reed) Churches.  Larry was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, Class of 1955. He continued his education at CMU and went on to earn his Masters Degree from MSU. Larry served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post # 153 in St. Johns.  He was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church and was a member of the St. Johns Lions Club.<\/p>\n<p>During his working career he was a teacher and coach and retired from MESSA as a Field Manager.  Larry loved to spend his time with his family, at the hundreds of sporting events his grandchildren played in, golfing, watching sports, and fishing at his cabin on Houghton Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving is one daughter, Stephanie (Rick) Alward of Homer, AK; three sons, Terry (Gayle) of Alto, MI, Brent (Nancy) of Lowell, MI and Bart (Renae) of Jackson, WY; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Daniher of Owosso and brother-in-law, David (Judy) Huhn of St. Johns. On August 24, 1957 he married M. Suzanne Huhn, and she preceded him in death in 2005. He was also predeceased by a brother, Keith.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Pilgrim United Methodist Church 2965 W. Parks Rd. St. Johns with Pastor Andy Croel officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, October 4 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a>, St. Johns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Gordon Lonnie McCullough<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/mccullough_lonnie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5999\" \/>Gordon Lonnie McCullough, age 75, of Elsie, MI, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Services will be held at Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, MI, on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Chuck Emmert &#8211; Minister officiating. Burial will take place at Duplain Township Cemetery St. Johns, MI.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI.<\/p>\n<p>Lonnie was born in Owosso, MI on April 6, 1944, the son of Gordon Lyons and Dora Avis (Crane) McCullough. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1962. On May 9, 1964 he married Janice Ann Thornton at the Duplain Church of Christ. He served his country in the United States Air Force.<\/p>\n<p>Lonnie retired from United Parcel Service as a truck driver.  After retirement, he worked at Smith Family Funeral Homes for many years. Lonnie enjoyed the University of Michigan football and having coffee with his friends in the morning. He was a member of Duplain Church of Christ.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife Janice McCullough of Elsie, MI; 2 sons: Kirk and Tonya McCullough of Petoskey, MI; Darrin and Sara McCullough of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren: Trenton McCullough of Petoskey, MI; KaLyn McCullough of Petoskey, MI; Lyle-Olivia McCullough of  Mooresville, NC; Lyncoln McCullough of Mooresville, NC; and Elsie McCullough of Mooresville, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Curtis Lynn, 2 sisters: Dixie Clark, and Becky Chatham and 1 brother Gene McCullough.<\/p>\n<p>Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family is being served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Smith Family Funeral Homes<\/font><\/a>, Elsie, MI.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Michael P. Esch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/esch_michael.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5995\" \/>Michael P. Esch, 45 of Perry, MI passed away on September 27, 2019.  Michael was born on April 28, 1974 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Philip Esch and Donna (Rich) Raymond.  He graduated from Holt High School and worked as the network administrator for Head start in Ingham County.  He loved riding his bike, snorkeling and spending winters in Belize.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his son, Noah M., daughter Kayla (Josh) White, parents Philip Esch of Haslett and Donna Raymond of Florida; sisters, Dianna Lynn and Katrina and Cindy (Ray) VanHoorelbeke and brother, Bill (Debra) Brice, 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family will receive friends and relatives at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a> on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 6-8 P.M.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Noah. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Janice E. Boron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/boron_janice.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5988\" \/>Janice E. Boron, 65 of DeWitt passed away at Hospice House in Lansing on Friday, September 27, 2019. Janice was born on December 7, 1953 in Lansing the daughter of Robert and Betty J. (Sloat) Carn. She graduated from St. Johns High School and was a homemaker. Janice was very fond of gardening, her plants, pets, cooking and her family. She loved telling jokes and making people laugh.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her children, Kendra (Thomas) Bennett of DeWitt, Bradley (Jeannine) Boron of DeWitt, Javonda Morrell of Lansing, Ashley Morrell of Laingsburg and Dustin (James) Morrell of Lansing; grandchildren, Hailey (Jay) Bennett, Meghan Bennett, Dylan Boron, Jaizohn Morrell, Devin Boron, Decarlo Santiago, Nathalia Santiago, Addelynn Boron and Brennin O\u2019Connor; sister, Rhonda Sloat and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and brothers, Donald and Dennis Carn.<\/p>\n<p>Services will be held at a later date and the family suggests memorials be given to them to cover expenses. The family is being served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><font color=\"#0000CC\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/font><\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Thomas Jon Pung<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pung_thomas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6001\" \/>Thomas Jon Pung, 64, of Lansing Michigan passed away on September 22, 2019.  Tom was born to Alvin Pung and Viola (Bast) on October 5, 1954 in St Johns Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Tom earned a bachelors degree from Central Michigan University. He worked for Ford Motor Credit in Okemos and Greenville, SC for most of his career. Sports were Tom\u2019s lifelong passion. He loved baseball, professional football, college basketball, and golf.  Finding some old football trading cards in his parents\u2019 attic started a lifetime hobby of collecting and selling sports memorabilia. Tom was an avid golfer and upon retirement worked at \u201cThe Cliffs\u201d golf community in South Carolina and most recently Woodside Golf Course in Lansing.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his sister Janet Pung (Matthew Heyden), niece Melissa (Chad) Wardie, nephew Christopher (Nicki) Pung, sister in law Kathy Pung, as well as two great nieces and a great nephew. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial celebrating Tom\u2019s life will be held at a future time. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>James S. Larsen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/delaney_larry.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"129\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5982\" \/>James S. Larsen died Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the age of 53. He was born July 15, 1966 in Carson City, MI the son of Jim and Mary Jane (Salters) Larsen. He was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 1984 and a member of the Maple Rapids United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<p>Jim had a passion for hunting and was an avid all round outdoorsman. He could hardly wait for each new hunting season, and treasured those times with his wife, and with his friends. He especially loved bow hunting. He enjoyed fishing and arm wrestling, was an excellent cook, a talented singer and an accomplished writer producing articles for several hunting magazines and publications. Jim retired in 2018 from the Michigan Department of Corrections. On November 7, 1998 he married Elaine Warren and she survives him.<\/p>\n<p>Also surviving is his father and step-mother, Jim and Kathleen Larsen of St. Johns; siblings, Matthew Larsen (Mark Waddell) of Lansing, Elizabeth (Steve) Edwards of Elwell, Michael Larsen of  Au Gres, MI, Nikki Crowell of Holt, Ronald Larsen of Lansing and step-brother, Jacob Monestersky of Royal Oak; brothers and sisters-in-law, Annette and Tim Pierce of Sheridan, Brad and Mary Warren and Tom and Cheryl Townsend all of Maple Rapids and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane, a brother, Kenneth and beloved aunt, Lori Salters.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Lowe United Methodist Church 5485 W. Lowe Rd. St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on Friday, October 4, 2019.
