It was a cold day, but with the help of my heater I made it through. It was not exactly a top down convertible day.<\/p>\n<p>I had the pleasure of driving the Grand Marshall, Sue Lounds.<\/p>\n<p>It was great fun, and there was a good turnout to watch the parade despite the weather.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>St. Johns Rotary Helping Hands Dinner Raffle is October 19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The annual Helping Hands Dinner and Raffle is sponsored by the Rotary Club of St. Johns. This premiere event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 350 community leaders and residents are expected at Smith Hall at the 4-H Fairgrounds for an evening of fun, food, a chance at $15,000 in cash and prizes and a desire to raise money for local and global charities.<\/p>\n<p>During the past year, St. Johns Rotary Club has provided generous donations to the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Academic Scholarships to Graduating Seniors at St. Johns, Ovid-Else and Fowler Public Schools<br \/>\n\u00b7 St. Johns Summer Reading Program<br \/>\n\u00b7 Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation<br \/>\n\u00b7 Clinton County 4-H Council<br \/>\n\u00b7 Clinton County Senior Center<br \/>\n\u00b7 St. Johns Area Community Fund<br \/>\n\u00b7 Rotary Youth Leadership Academy<br \/>\n\u00b7 Clinton County Arts Council<br \/>\n\u00b7 IQ Hub at AgroLiquid<br \/>\n\u00b7 Rotary International PolioPlus Program<\/p>\n<p>St. Johns Rotary President Jon Stoppels said \u201cOur annual event enables us to continue financial support of valued projects in our community. \u201cIf you have not purchased your ticket yet, please consider supporting our good work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the Dinner and Program starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for $150 for two from St. Johns Rotarians or by contacting: Gary Lenneman at 517-930-3531 or email: <a href=\"mailto:glenneman@frontier.com\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">glenneman@frontier.com<\/span><\/a>. Soon they will have a furry four-legged Advocate Dog join their team.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to the Clinton County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office for supporting this opportunity to provide support to children. Advocate dogs provide direct support to children who have been neglected, abused or sexually assaulted. These dogs provide these services both in the court as well as residential placements. All CAP dogs are trained and donated to CAP by Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, MI.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capmich.org\/our-dogs\/advocate-dogs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">http:\/\/www.capmich.org\/our-dogs\/advocate-dogs<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Quilts and Carpenters Tools at the Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fourteen quilts, including two from the 1800s will be on display at the Clinton County Historical Museum through November 17.<\/p>\n<p>The Police and Fire Exhibit is ongoing through the Christmas Season, and a new accession of an antique Carpenter&#8217;s Chest with many antique tools can be seen in the Carriage House.<\/p>\n<p>Hours are Wednesdays 2-6 p.m. and Sundays 1-4 p.m. Closed on Holiday weekends.<\/p>\n<p>The Complex is at 106 Maple Street, St. Johns, on the West side of the Courthouse.<\/p>\n<p>The Carriage House and General Store will be open as long as weather permits with the Paine-Gillam-Scott House open through Christmas season, closing after December 18.<\/p>\n<p>Please call 989-224-2894 or email <a href=\"mailto:pgsmuseum@gmail.com\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">pgsmuseum@gmail.com<\/span><\/a> for further information. Group and individual tours are welcome.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>K of C raffle and dinner coming up October 19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The annual Sportsman Raffle and Hog Roast and Turkey Fry sponsored by the local Knights of Columbus will be held on Saturday, October 19.<\/p>\n<p>The drawing will be held at 8:00 p.m. The Grand Knight&#8217;s drawing will be at 7:30 p.m. You need not be present to win.<\/p>\n<p>The dinner including roasted pork, fried turkey, baked beans, cole slaw, corn bread and ice cream from Dershey&#8217;s will take place from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Children 4 and under are free.
