Wilson Center presents Fifties Favorites November 9<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hear the stylings of twelve unique vocalists and the talented Grand Band: from the tunes of American Bandstand to The Sound of Music, Singers on the Grand will salute the 1950s with pop, jazz, Broadway and inspirational songs.<\/p>\n

The event will take place at the Wilson Center Auditorium 101 W. Cass Street in St. Johns, Michigan on November 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

General admission is $12. Please call 1-800-838-3006 to reserve tickets or visit the online event at sotg.bpt.me<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Senior Center to hold craft show and bake sale November 16<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Clinton County Senior Center will have a Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 16 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. A lunch of Soup and Sloppy Joes will be available. The Gift Shop also will be open with lots of books, puzzles and much more.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the Craft Sale will help pay utility bills during the cold winter months. The proceeds from the Bake Sale will go to Clinton County Meals on Wheels.<\/p>\n

The Senior Center is located at 201 E Walker Street in St. Johns.<\/p>\n

American Legion Auxiliary hosts Holiday Craft Show November 9<\/strong><\/p>\n

Start your Christmas shopping early. The American Legion Edward Stiles Post 153 Auxiliary in St. Johns is hosting a Holiday Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the VFW Hall 2497 N. US-27 in St. Johns.<\/p>\n

Show hours will be from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A light lunch will be available from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be random drawings held throughout the day for free gifts. Winners need not be present to win.<\/p>\n

Free breakfast for veterans at Big Boy<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Big Boy of St. Johns will be honoring area veterans with a free breakfast for Veterans Day.<\/p>\n

From 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11 any veteran, active military or member of law enforcement can stop by the Big Boy to enjoy a trip to the breakfast buffet.<\/p>\n

They are grateful for the dedication of those in uniform. This is a small gesture of appreciation to all those who have so willingly served.<\/p>\n

Light Festival and Santa Parade coming December 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

Your help is needed again this year to launch the St. Johns Light Festival and Santa Parade on Friday, December 6.<\/p>\n

Please register your festive home. Whether you hang one row of lights or cause a blinding radiant glow, we want you to be a blip on the map. The St. Johns Light Festival will include rides through town, and they want to make sure we all head down streets that are illuminated with Christmas spirit.<\/p>\n

A prize of $100 will be given to the top 3 resident homes and a $100 prize will be given to the best decorated business. You must be registered to win<\/span><\/a>!<\/p>\n

The deadline to register is December 1.<\/p>\n

\n

Substance Abuse coalition awarded grant<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced a $125,000 grant for the Clinton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.<\/p>\n

According to the organization, its goal is to \u201ccoordinate prevention efforts within the county and to prevent the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, with a special focus on youth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group also works to educate \u201ccommunity members to avoid the negative consequences of prescription and other medications.\u201d<\/p>\n

Congressman Moolenaar made the following statement on the grant awarded to the Clinton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis funding will allow leaders in Clinton County to use their understanding of community needs to fight the opioid crisis in mid Michigan, as well as educate others about the dangers of substance abuse and the life-changing consequences it can have.\u201d<\/p>\n
