We are an interfaith endeavor put on by volunteers for all people of the area in Smith Hall in St. Johns. This is an inclusive event where everyone is invited to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at no cost and share the day with others.

The event runs from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and is full of a variety of activities for all ages. There will be musical entertainment, arts and crafts, games for the children, and a large screen TV for the Thanksgiving Day football games. Come for all or part of the celebration.

Dinner begins at noon and features a classic Thanksgiving Day menu. A delicious vegetarian option is also served. Local businesses and individuals have provided the food at reduced cost or as a donation. Others have contributed money to under write the expenses of the dinner. This support allows us to offer the meal at no charge.

Part of the dinner is cooked by Sparrow Clinton Memorial Hospital. Some of it is prepared in local restaurants, bakeries, and churches. The rest is made ready on site in a commercial kitchen. It is prepared from scratch, with love, and tastes of home.

The dinner is put on by the community for the community. It is supported by donations from businesses, churches, community groups, and individuals.

Everyone is invited. If you have visitors from another area, they are welcome to join in as well.

The Thanksgiving celebration begins at 11 AM with an interdenominational worship service. People are inspired to show up and give back to the causes and issues that matter to them, often in the community in which they live and work. Fueled by the power of social media, GivingTuesday can create a wave of generosity that helps those in need and strengthens our society. Giving Tuesday takes place this year on December 3, 2019.

People fundamentally want to help, to give, and to talk about making our world better, especially when given the opportunity. GivingTuesday provides a powerful way to give. Leadership can help create the conditions for giving, and we believe that businesses, local groups and foundations can inspire not only giving, but also social responsibility and volunteer efforts. GivingTuesday gives us a new way to think about generosity and an avenue to come together to improve our community, our nation, and the world.

For more information visit www.givingtuesday.org.

Join the movement by helping others through the gift of your time, donations, goods or your voice.
