Enjoy the spirit of the holidays through multigenerational singing, charitable giving, and gathering after the concert for cookies and fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the Junior Mints will sing a solo or duet within the choral piece, <em>The Friendly Beasts<\/em> Fifteen-year-old Kendall Gunther will be singing <em>Once Upon A December<\/em> from Anastasia as a solo. Kelly Bitz will also be a featured soloist.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a ladies sextet singing <em>Christmas Lullaby<\/em> and the new Select Assortmint, an SATB ensemble of 15 people, is singing<em> Go Tell It On the Mountain<\/em> a cappella.<\/p>\n<p>The groups are directed by Ellen Hoard with Jenny Wilcox and James Shippers on piano, Tess Miller on flute and Scott Harding on percussion.<\/p>\n<p>All donations will be given to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stjohnsfbc.com\/beacon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">Beacon of Hope Family Care Center<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>An Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols is December 15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An Advent Festival of Lessons And Carols will be presented on Sunday, December 15, 2019 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p>The service will feature Community Choirs directed By Steven Easterling.<\/p>\n<p>Join them for this fifty-minute program of holiday music and readings from the biblical Christmas story. Come ready to sing your favorite carols.<\/p>\n<p>This is a free event. It was a very cold day, but there were many people who came out for this event.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to help out and went to a local fast food chain and purchased coffee for them.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to our Police Department and people who donated to this worthwhile cause.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Handmade fretwork highlights Museum&#8217;s Victorian Christmas d\u00e9cor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23489\" src=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/fruitbowl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/fruitbowl.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stjindy.com\/newindy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/fruitbowl-300x293.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a unique example of handmade fretwork that highlights the Victorian Christmas d\u00e9cor. This is just one of the Victorian era artifacts that are displayed throughout the Paine-Gillam-Scott House.<\/p>\n<p>The Police and Fire Exhibit are ongoing through the Christmas Season, closing after December 18.<\/p>\n<p>Museum hours are Wednesdays 2-6 p.m. and Sundays 1-4. Closed on Holiday weekends.<\/p>\n<p>The Complex is located at 106 Maple Street in St. Johns on the West side of the Courthouse. The 19th annual AT&amp;T\/MACUL Student Technology Showcase took place Wednesday, December 4 in the state Capitol Building.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL), and underwritten by AT&amp;T, the 2019 Student Technology Showcase featured demonstrations from students representing more than 35 different schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 19th annual Student Technology Showcase showcased the brightest and best technology projects in our state, and we were excited to welcome students to the Capitol again this year,\u201d said Mark Smith, MACUL executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Students displayed a wide variety of technology projects that blended science, mathematics, social studies and language arts with the latest digital tools.
