There will be an all you can eat breakfast with Santa from 7 a.m.-10 a.m. at Edwin T Stiles Post 153 American Legion Hall, 110 E Walker St. in St Johns.<\/p>\n
Santa will arrive at 9:30. kids should plan to come by 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
Bring your camera and letter to Santa. All children will receive a gift bag.<\/p>\n
Kids under 12 eat free. Adults and kids 12 and up will pay $8.<\/p>\n

St. Johns Community Band to hold Holiday Concert December 17<\/strong><\/p>\n The St Johns Community Band will present their annual Holiday Concert on Tuesday, December 17 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Center Auditorium.<\/p>\n The concert will feature holiday favorites performed by local musicians.<\/p>\n There will be no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken at the door.<\/p>\n Make and Take Art Event for Kids at IQhub is December 17<\/p>\n Looking for something fun to do with your child? Stop by American Legion Post 153 in St. Johns.<\/p>\n The American Legion Riders in conjunction with the American Legion Post 153, Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary together with Bigby Coffee are sponsoring a fundraiser on behalf of the Mt. Rest Cemetery Flag Fund.<\/p>\n Members from each function of the American Legion are asking for donations towards this much needed endowment to preserve and replace worn out and tattered flags of our veterans resting at Mt. Rest Cemetery.<\/p>\n Six dollars of each $10 bag of coffee sold will be earmarked for the Veterans Flag Fund.<\/p>\n The Post is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.\/10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n Wear One<\/strong><\/p>\n The Mid-Michigan District Health Department (MMDHD) is teaming up with the statewide Wear One campaign to increase free condom availability, create awareness, and promote acceptance of condom use in individuals ages 18 to 24.<\/p>\n Originally launched by the Ottawa County Department of Health in 2014, the program aims to decrease rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies and create a consistent, positive sexual health message by removing barriers like cost, embarrassment and lack of access.<\/p>\n MMDHD is partnering with area businesses to provide Wear One packets in locations where young people shop, eat, and receive services. Current Wear One locations include: Highland Blush in Alma, Alma Brewing Company, the Eagles Nest in Carson City, the Montcalm Area Health Center in Greenville, and MMDHD offices in St. Johns, Ithaca and Stanton.<\/p>\n Male condoms are one of the most popular forms of birth control, with an effective rate of over 95% when used correctly and consistently. They protect against STI\u2019s and don\u2019t require a prescription. Each Wear One bag includes 10 condoms, lubricant, and information on MMDHD family planning services, participating locations, and proper condom use.<\/p>\n For more information on the Wear One campaign, contact Cheryl Thelen, Health Educator, at (989) 831-3634.<\/p>\n Briggs District Library News<\/strong><\/p>\n Toys for Tots<\/em> – The library is a Toys for Tots drop off location. From now until Tuesday, December 17 you can drop of a new unwrapped gift for a child ages birth to 17.<\/p>\n Pre-Reader Storytime<\/em> “New Year New Books!”- Join us for brand new books and lots of fun. Children ages 4-6 can mark their calendars for Thursday evenings, 6:30-7 p.m., January 9 – February 13. Registration is required and began December 12. Hope you can join us for fun, music, games, snacks and new tales.<\/p>\n Ancestry<\/em> – The library recently purchased Ancestry Library Edition for genealogical research, and we will be holding an introductory class to help patrons make better use of this great resource. The class will take place on Monday, January 13 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and will cover the basics of using Ancestry Library Edition. No library card is needed to attend, but advance registration is appreciated, and will begin Monday, December 16.<\/p>\n Tales to Tails<\/em> – Ruger, a certified therapy dog will be back at the library this winter. Children ages 6-12 can sign up for a 15-minute session to practice reading aloud to Ruger on the 2nd or 4th Thursday of each month. Space is limited, and registration is required.<\/p>\n Connections<\/em> – Patrons needing help with OverDrive\/Libby, RBDigital, or any of the library’s other e-services will be able to come to the library for drop-in tech help each Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n Library Closure<\/em> – The Library will be closed on December 24, 25 and 26 for the Christmas Holiday and on December 31and January 1 for the New Year’s Holiday.
