Drive-by parade planned for Hazel Findlay and Clinton Commons<\/strong><\/p>\n

Next week is National Nursing Home Week, so organizers are putting together a drive by parade for Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor and Clinton Commons on Wednesday, May 13. As they celebrate Employee Appreciate Day, the theme of the parade will be Superheroes.<\/p>\n

Participants will stay in their vehicles, and organizers are hoping families and community members will join the parade to let the staff know they are appreciated and let the residents know you are thinking of them.<\/p>\n

Line up will start at 1:30 p.m. in the Peebles parking lot, and the parade will start at 2. They will drive around Clinton Commons and then around Hazel Findlay. The St. Johns Police will lead the group.<\/p>\n

Tuesday\u2019s weather seemed to match the mood of the administrators and teachers as they happily handed out caps and gowns today.<\/p>\n

Multiple High school senior families lined up in front of the school in their cars to get their fill of free t-shirts provided by Custom Embroidery Plus of St. Johns and free yard signs given by Sport Stop of St. Johns.<\/p>\n

As the seniors collected their caps gowns and free t-shirts and yard signs, the band students were graciously given pink tassels by the Band Boosters.<\/p>\n

Historical Museum to remain closed<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, due to present circumstances the Clinton County Historical Museum in St. Johns will be closed until further notice.<\/p>\n

Dairy contribution supports food pantries and dairy farmers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Food pantries in Clinton, Gratiot, and Isabella Counties will be able to provide more milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, and other dairy products to those in need thanks to $1,000 in contributions from Vita Plus.<\/p>\n

These contributions are part of the Vita Plus Serving Customers and Rural Communities Project. Vita Plus, an employee-owned livestock feed and nutrition company, has committed $100,000 to support rural food security initiatives throughout the Upper Midwest. The purposes of the project are to assist those in rural communities during the COVID-19 pandemic while also supporting dairy, swine, and beef producers by purchasing their products as dairy and livestock farms face subsequent market challenges. Through this broad-based effort, local Vita Plus nutrition consultants and facilities will identify opportunities to make a difference in the communities where they and their customers live and work.<\/p>\n

How it feels<\/strong><\/p>\n

The entire team at the Voice for Clinton County Children, whether the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Board of Directors, and community partners are all passionate about what they do to protect and support children.<\/p>\n

Children and youth who have been abused can have an extreme heightened level of anxiety, in ways prior to our changed world maybe was not always easily understood. Anxiety about whether they will have enough food, how will they be treated when they interact with their abuser who more often than not is known to the child\/youth as a “trusted” adult, and how they can possibly be expected to sit still all day with all the fear they are carrying.<\/p>\n

Any of this feel familiar?<\/p>\n

From an abused child’s eyes, how does their journey feel if the rest of their world is not clouded in similar anxiety? What if the current journey our world faces was more individual, less global, smaller? Would there be the same kindness, grace, and understanding from those who were walking a “normal” experience?<\/p>\n

None of us can undo the anxiety created from an abusive home; but we can offer kindness, grace, and understanding as they journey down a path of healing.<\/p>\n
