That has included advocating in both Lansing and Washington D.C. for much-needed relief that is essential to the future of the industry. Below is an overview of those efforts:<\/p>\n<p><em>Federal Advocacy<\/em>: MAAS has submitted letters to Michigan\u2019s U.S. Senators asking for assistance in helping ambulance providers obtain priority access to personal protection equipment, increasing the percentage of funds ambulance providers receive under the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund, and obtaining reimbursement for providing patients with treatment in place when a hospital transport is not required.<\/p>\n<p><em>State Advocacy<\/em>: MAAS also submitted a letter to Governor Whitmer and legislative leaders asking for Michigan\u2019s Medicaid reimbursement rate for ambulance services to be increased by 25 percent, putting Michigan in line with what other states have done for their ambulance services.<\/p>\n<p>MAAS also asked the governor to cancel the next payment under the Quality Assurance Assessment Program, due to the reduction in revenue and transport volume.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, MAAS asked for flexibility in the education proposal the governor recently proposed for frontline workers to include tuition reimbursement for paramedic and EMT training programs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Eureka bottle return drive is July 11<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Organizing will be collecting your bottle returns at Eureka Elementary School on Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. &#8211; Noon.<\/p>\n<p>Mark the date on your calendars.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s available at the Briggs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Briggs District Library is compiling a list of local businesses that are open. They hope to keep adding to the list, so <a href=\"https:\/\/www.briggsdistrictlibrary.org\/covid-19-resources\/dealing-with-the-pandemic-in-st-johns-area\/whats-available-in-our-area?fbclid=IwAR2W_F8n00izslrFybQUYiBGO25g-y2rRkauYVNxxwHx3USL8n-AkFN76Pw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">bookmark their link<\/span><\/a> and check back every once in a while.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Private well owners urged to protect their wells from flooding<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Michigan Ground Water Association is urging all private well owners to prepare their water wells for potential flooding and extreme weather conditions in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>The MGWA urges Private Well Owners to visit the National Ground Water Associations (NGWA\u2019s) <a href=\"http:\/\/wellowner.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000cc;\">wellowner.org<\/span><\/a>, which provides crucial information to water well owners on best practices to protect their systems before and after flooding.
