Community Christian to host VBS – June 25-28

Community Christian Church located at 400 E. State Street in St. Johns is hosting a free 4-day Vacation Bible School event at the church Monday through Thursday, June 25-28 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. No need to pre-register, simply register when you show up.

Preschool through 5th grade students will venture onto an uncharted island where they will discover how to not only survive but thrive. Through daily Bible points, kids will be anchored in the truth that Jesus can carry them through life’s storms. Bible-based lessons, fun crafts and games, delicious treats, and creative videos.

The mission for the week is Project Connect, a county-wide event held August 16 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds, which connects Clinton County individuals and families with limited resources to the resources they need. Students are encouraged to bring pairs of new underwear, socks, backpacks and school supplies for the Project Connect mission.

The week will end with lots of fun as kids get to dunk their favorite VBS staff in the dunk tank. For more details call the church at (989) 224-6421.


Historical Society plans annual potluck

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Why: Celebrate Clinton County postal history

The museum is still accepting photos, letters, documents or other artifacts relating to person’s service to our country, especially WWI. We will also would like to continue gathering photos and information relating to the postal history of Clinton County. You may also contact us or submit information to ccgensoc@yahoo.com.

There will be photo scanning available at the potluck. Originals will be returned to you. All Clinton County related photos are appreciated.


Museum closed for Fathers Day

Clinton County Historical Museum, Paine-Gillam-Scott House, will be closed for Fathers Day, June 17. In honor of the fathers that maintain the buildings and grounds; preserve documents and photos, they will be spending time with their families.

VBS is for children 31/2 years who are potty trained, through graduating 5th graders this year. VBS is June 25th – 29th from 9am – 11:45am each day. Local students receive degrees from Michigan Tech

U.S. Senator Gary Peters, the Junior Senator from Michigan, was the commencement speaker and the student address was given by Jaylyn Williams-Boone of Flint, Michigan.
