South Bingham Cemetery Annual meeting is May 9

The South Bingham Cemetery Annual meeting will be held on Monday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m.
The public is notified and invited to attend the meeting at the cemetery at 1324 W. Taft Road, St. Johns.
Annual reports and election of officers will be held at this time, along with any new business to be discussed.

Union Home annual meeting is May 9
The Public is hereby notified of and invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Union Home Cemetery Association to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9 at the Greenbush Township Hall located at 1883 East French Road, Saint Johns, MI.
The annual reports and election of officers for the Association will be held at this meeting in addition to any other business that may be required.

Good News Kitchen takes over free lunch ministry
Good News Kitchen, a ministry of St. John’s Lutheran Church, began serving free lunches beginning May 3, on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 511 E. Sturgis St. in St. Johns, the corner of Business 27 and Sturgis St. You may stop by and grab a free lunch to go for yourself, your family, a friend or a neighbor. Meals are free for everyone, and all are welcome to come although donations are always accepted and appreciated.
If you have questions or want to order ahead for pick up call 989-224-6796. Look for the signs and come to the west side entrance to get your free meals.
Friends plan benefit for Mark Root May 15
A Benefit for Mark Root is planned for Sunday, May 15 at the VFW Post 4113, 2497 Old U.S. 27 in St.
Johns from Noon until 7:00 p.m.
Meals are $20.00 for Adults and $10.00 for Kids with food by Chuckie D’s BBQ. Takeout available for $15.00
Entertainment includes Live Music, Cash Bar, Numerous Silent Auctions and Raffles. There might even be some fun games to play.
Mark Root is a friend and a neighbor. His parents, Dick and Ruth Root and sisters Debra (Ron) Mills and Kathy (Jeff) Pouch are also known in the community. Mark was critically injured in a snowmobile accident this year in the U.P. Despite a couple of surgeries and over two months in the hospital and rehabilitation center, Mark is now a quadriplegic. He will need 24/7 care from now on.
The love and devotion for Mark from his family is very strong, but it takes a village to help when a friend and neighbor is in need.

Remember that Briggs District Library is a community partner of the Zoo in Your Neighborhood program from Potter Park Zoo.
All you need is a library card to check out a pass that allows for free parking and entrance to the zoo.
