Foundation awards mini-grants to local schoolteachers

Each year, members of the Carson City-Crystal Area Schools Foundation (CCCASF) get to bring smiles to local teachers’ faces as they deliver mini-grant awards to K-12 classrooms.
Teachers apply for one of 20 mini-grants in the amount of $50 each for special classroom projects or items that supplement educational plans, core curriculum projects, technology needs, service learning activities or other projects.

CCC teachers receive mini-grants for the 2010/2011 school year included: Darlene Puffpaff, Sarah Koves, Kris Rayburn, Jennifer Geiger, Susan Holden, Marcia Larkins, Rebecca Farlee, Pat Trommater, Janet Gamble, Amy Bailey, Jennifer Baker, Sandy Mayes, Julie Farmer & Karen Parmenter, Jill Postema, and Martha Warner.
“Every teacher who requested a mini-grant this year received one!” said Nancy Seals, CCCASF president. “It’s so exciting to give out these awards each year. We actually distribute them in December, so it’s kind of like a fun Christmas gift for our teachers and their students.”
