Shirley Ann Moore
Shirley Ann Moore, 75, of Ovid. passed away Monday, December 17th, 2012 at Hospice House of Shiawassee. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.
Shirley Ann was born in New Haven Township on February 8, 1937, the daughter of Charles Samuel and Lillian Bessie (Louth) Bates. She married Charles Vern Moore on December 25, 1954 at the Ovid United Church parsonage. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Shirley retired from the Clinton County Intermediate School District as a teacher aide after 20+ years of service. She loved to volunteer her time and talents to her community. A couple of organizations that benefited from Shirley’s giving were the Ovid Carriage Days Celebration and Redeemer Lutheran’s elephant ear concession trailer. Shirley was always there to help others.
Those who cherish her memory include: husband, Charles of Ovid; daughters, Vicki (James) Horvath of Strongville, Ohio and Terri (John) Stewart of Ovid; grandsons, Nicholas (Amanda) Stewart and John Stewart; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Stewart and Matthew Stewart; sister, Beverly (Lee) Bolton of Ovid; brother, Charles (Jean) Bates of St. Johns; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Robert and William Bates.

Luther D. Mullen
Luther D. Mullen, passed away on December 17, 2012, at the age of 83. Born August 22, 1929, in Todd County, KY. He was the son of Mervin and Katie (Wheeler) Mullen. Luther was a former Motor Wheel employee, where he worked for approximately 28 years. He loved camping and raised many unique and rare, rabbits and birds.
Luther is survived by his brother, Claude (Alta) Mullen, of Hartford, KY, as well as the Robert and Martha Salisbury family with whom he shared his heart and life. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Joe Mullen, David Mullen and Richard Mullen.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday December 21, 2012 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, with Pastor Scott Seelhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery immediately following the service. Military services will be provided by VFW Post #4113. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial donation will be made to a charity of his family’s choice. The family is being served by The Osgood Funeral Homes.


Larry N. McDiarmid
Larry N. McDiarmid, formerly of St. Johns, MI of Barboursville, West Virginia, went Home this morning, December 10, 2012. Larry was born in Sunfield, Michigan May 5, 1945. He married Cathy Halsted on May 8, 1971 in St. Johns, MI and they lived there for many years. In 1992 they moved to Pennsylvania and later to West Virginia, where they worked in the Appalachian Mt. Ministry.
Surviving are his daughter, Amy Sullivan and granddaughters, Ashley and Jasten; mother-in-law, Vada Halsted; brothers-in-law, Eric (Naomi) and family of Georgia, Joshua and family of Mattawan, MI, and Dennis Halsted of St. Johns, MI. He was preceded in death by his birth family, Cathy and his father-in-law, Virgil Halsted.


James Husted
James Husted, age 74, of Maple Rapids, Michigan passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Ithaca, Michigan. James was born November 14, 1938 in Fowler, Michigan . He was the son of Claude and Nellie (Hamilton) Husted. James married Sharon (Avery) on September 13, 1958 and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2012.
James is survived by daughters Cheryl (Richard) Simpson, Janet Husted and Jamie Berry, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sister Sadie and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Sharon, James was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Roxanne Husted, son, James Husted II, great granddaughter, Miranda Hackett and three brothers, Francis, Bob and Tom Husted.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Osgood Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating. Burial to follow at Payne Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Osgood Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to North Star AFC, 4755 South Dean Rd, Ithaca, MI. 48847.

Beatrice L. Isbell

Beatrice L. Isbell, 87 of Grayling, Michigan died Tuesday December 11, 2012. Beatrice was born December 18, 1925 in Ovid, Michigan the daughter of Orr Roy and Susan (Finein) Richard. She married Donald G. Isbell May 25, 1948 in Ovid and he preceded her in death October 20, 1996. She was a graduate of Ovid High School class of 1943 and St. Lawrence School of Nursing class 1946. Beatrice was a registered nurse and worked at Clinton Memorial Hospital for 39 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Johns, and later the United Methodist Church of Grayling. She enjoyed traveling with her husband seeing all of the lower 48 states; they also enjoyed the casinos; she was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting and bowling. Beatrice was also a published poet and past president of the Lansing Poetry Society. She was a real people person and was active at the Senior Center.
Beatrice is survived by her children, daughters Linda (Edward) Abshagen of St. Joseph, Suzanne Isbell fiancé (Mark) of Grayling, and son David (Jennifer) Isbell Sr. of Traverse City, six grandchildren: David (Dora) Isbell Jr. , Breanna (Dan) Camarillo, Miranda (Jim)Wellman, Emily Smith (Rob Ward), Wendy Parker fiancé (Derek), Sandra Abshagen, fiancé (Gene), 13 great-grandchildren Andrelle, Tyler, Kaleb, Josefina, Zoe, Donavin, Autumn, Tierra, Imala, Brandon, Diana, Ciera, Noah, along with “Uncle” Glen James Zelley. Beside her husband, Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home St. Johns, MI 48879 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Walter Kreger Officiating. Interment will follow at South Bingham Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2-7pm and one hour prior to service on Saturday. Those desiring to may make contributions to American Heart Association or Briggs Public Library, St. Johns, MI.


T. Roy Sosebee
T. Roy Sosebee, age 87, of St. Johns, MI died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with one hour of visitation prior to the service from 12-1 P.M. Military Honors will be provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard.
Roy was born in South Bend, IN on October 6, 1925, the son of Thomas Roy and Katherine W. (Dalenburg) Sosebee. Roy married Beverly Jean Daus in Niles on March 5, 1955; she preceded him in death on May 16, 2005. Roy served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
He is survived by 6 children; son Ronald and Pamela Sosebee of Ashley, MI, son Brian and Beverly Sosebee of St. Johns, MI, son Roger and Dolores Sosebee of St. Johns, MI, daughter Babette and Thomas Trudgeon of Lansing, MI, son Rory and Lisa Sosebee of St. Johns, MI, daughter Brandy and Craig Breining of Rose City, MI, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and sister Florence and Leroy Felhauer of Las Cruces, NM.
Memorials may be made to St. Johns VFW Post 4113, St. Johns, MI. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, Michigan.
