It’ll be a rockin’ good time June 16 when Conchord opens the weekly Concert in the Park series at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell. The popular, local band takes the stage at 7 p.m.; no admission charge.
It will be a bittersweet show for fans of the talented group that’s been rockin’ and rollin’ for 12 years. Charlie Green, co-founder of Conchord along with Jerry Mitchell, is stepping away from the microphone after the June 16 performance. The well-known lead vocalist is “retiring” from the group.

“Everyone knows and loves Charlie and his great voice – we certainly will miss him,” Mitchell says, noting that Conchord will remain intact and plans to add a lead singer for upcoming show dates.
In addition to Mitchell who plays drums, other Conchord members are Aaron Baker, keyboard and vocals; Kyle Myers, lead guitar; and John Werbish, bass.
Conchord plays a full repertoire of classic rock tunes, blending in some “cross-over” country rock music into its shows.
The season-opening concert is special in another way. Firstbank-St. Johns is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2010, serving local residents. The financial institution is a major underwriter of the June 16 show.
Concert in the Park is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the city of St. Johns, with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Concerts are held each Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., in the beautiful outdoor concert venue at the St. Johns City Park. The St. Johns Lions and Lioness Club staff a concession stand each week that offers light refreshments. All concerts are held rain or shine.
