Sergeant Timothy Moon
Indiana State Police Superintendent Paul Whitesell, Ph.D., announced the promotion of Sergeant Timothy Moon to the rank of first sergeant to serve as the Assistant District Commander at the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post in Bristol. Moon received this promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process.
Moon, originally from St. Johns Michigan, graduated from St. Johns High School in 1987 and the then received a degree from Michigan State University in 1994. Moon recently retired after more than 22 years of reserve and active duty service with the United States Army. Moon joined the National Guard in 1987, and completed Officer Candidate School in 1990, before retiring from the Army at the rank of major. He most recently served a tour of duty in Iraq in 2004.
Moon, a 15-year veteran of the Indiana State Police, graduated from the recruit academy in 1995. He was originally assigned to the Toll Road Post and has remained there during his entire career. Since joining the state police, Moon has worked as a Field Training Officer and is also an EVOC and RADAR instructor. Moon has also been an active member of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) for the last ten years. Moon was promoted from the rank of sergeant, where he supervised troopers assigned to road patrol in LaGrange and Steuben Counties.
Moon currently resides in Shipshewana, Indiana. He is the son of John and Teala Moon of St. Johns.
