It’ll be a rockin’ good time at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell June 22 when Slingshot performs at the weekly Concert in the Park series.
The well-known band takes the stage at 7 p.m.; no admission charge.
Country, classic rock, love songs and nostalgic oldies are all performed very true to the original songs with strong vocals, rich harmonies and stunning instrumentals.
“The music of Josh Turner, the Beatles, Dwight Yoakam, Heart, and even Pink is just a small sample of what you’ll hear – and you won’t be able to resist singing along with the familiar songs,” says Slingshot vocalist and guitarist, John Kelly. Other band members include Rachel Helinski, vocals; Dawn Artman, vocals and keyboard; Pat Kenealy, vocals and guitar; Paul Mercieca, percussion; and Nancy Kelly, bass.
Concert in the Park is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the city of St. Johns, with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition, Firstbank is being recognized at the June 22 concert for its support of the Arts Council and the summer music series.
Concerts are held each Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., in the beautiful outdoor concert venue at the St. Johns City Park, located near Park and Morton streets. The St. Johns Lions and Lioness Club staff a concession stand each week that offers light refreshments. All concerts are held rain or shine.
