Townsend Road Construction Begins: Anyone traveling near Townsend Road within the city limits will likely encounter detour signs and heavy construction activity in the area, signaling the beginning of the Townsend Road Improvement Project. The area of reconstruction stretches from Oakland Street east to Business Route 27. While local traffic will be able to snake through the area on most days, some limited complete closures of this roadway will occur as construction takes its course. It is recommended an alternate route be used whenever possible. Be mindful of detour signs and if traveling on Townsend, watch for construction workers in the roadway. This project should be completed by early to mid-August.
